Abstract: Polyurethanes are made by curing a reaction mixture containing a polyether polyol that contains residues of a zinc hexacyanocobaltate catalyst complex. The reaction mixture contains certain chelating agents in small quantities. The amount of cobalt that is extractable from the polyurethane is reduced.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention relate to compositions that can be used as emulsifiable concentrates in the agriculture industry. In one aspect, a composition comprises (a) 5 weight percent or more of a compound soluble in at least one of N,N-dialkyl fatty amide, an aromatic ketone, an alkyl ketone, a cyclic ketone, or an aromatic hydrocarbon solvent; and (b) an ether ketone solvent according to Formula 1, as described herein, wherein R1 is a linear or branched alkyl group having 4 to 8 carbon atoms, wherein R2 is CH3 or CH2CH3, wherein x is 0, 1, or 2, wherein R3 is CH3 when R2 is CH3, and wherein R3 is CH2CH3 when R2 is CH2CH3.

Abstract: A method of producing a high primary hydroxyl group content and a high number average molecular weight polyol includes preparing a mixture that includes a double metal cyanide catalyst and a low molecular weight polyether polyol having a number average molecular weight of less than 1,000 g/mol, the polyether polyol is derived from propylene oxide, ethylene oxide, or butylene oxide, setting the mixture to having a first temperature, adding at least one selected from propylene oxide, ethylene oxide, and butylene oxide to the mixture at the first temperature, allowing the mixture to react to form a reacted mixture, adding a Lewis acid catalyst to the reacted mixture, setting the reaction mixture including the second catalyst to have a second temperature that is less than the first temperature, and adding additional at least one selected from propylene oxide, ethylene oxide, and butylene oxide to the reacted mixture at the second temperature such that a resultant polyol having a primary hydroxyl group content of at least 60% and a number average molecular weight greater than 2,500 g/mol is formed.

Abstract: Processes for the production of chlorinated propenes are provided wherein a dehydrochlorination reaction occurs prior to a first chlorination reaction. The present processes make use of at least one reactor twice, i.e., at least two reactions occur in the same reactor. Cost and time savings are thus provided. Additional savings can be achieved by conducting more than two chlorination reactions, or all chlorination reactions, in one chlorination reactor, and/or by conducting more than two dehydrochlorination reactions, or all dehydrochlorination reactions, within a single dehydrochlorination reactor.
