Abstract: Embodiments relate to polyolefin compositions containing one or more high-density polyethylenes (HDPEs) and linear low-density polyethylenes (LLDPEs) and methods for forming the same. The polyolefin composition contains about 40 wt % to about 60 wt % of HDPE and about 40 wt % to about 60 wt % of LLDPE, by weight of the polyolefin composition. The HDPE has a density of greater than 0.93 g/cm3 and a melt index of about 0.2 dg/min to about 10 dg/min. The LLDPE has a density of less than 0.915 g/cm3 and a melt index of about 0.2 dg/min to about 10 dg/min. The polyolefin composition has a density of about 0.91 g/cm3 or greater, a melt index of about 0.5 dg/min to about 6 dg/min, and a Tw1−Tw2 value of about −25° C. or less.

Abstract: This invention relates to a polyethylene composition, and films therefrom, comprising at least 65 wt % ethylene derived units and from 0.1 to 35 wt % of C3-C12 olefin comonomer derived units, where the polyethylene composition has: a) an RCI,m of less than 85 kg/mol; b) a Tw1−Tw2 value of from −15 to −40° C.; and c) an Mw1/Mw2 value of less than 1.5 where the film has a) a heat seal initiation temperature of X ° C. or less at 5 N of force, where X=0.0015×Y(psi)+62.6 (where Y is the average 1% Secant modulus ((MD+TD)/2)) of the film; b) a dart drop impact of 300 g/mil or more; c) an MD Elmendorf tear of 230 g or more; and d) average 1% Secant modulus ((MD+TD)/2) of 20,000 psi or more.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides films made of polyethylene (PE) compositions. In at least one embodiment, a film includes a polyethylene composition, comprising: ethylene content and from 0 to 25 mol % of C3-C40 olefin comonomer content, based upon the total weight of the polyethylene composition, the polyethylene composition having a total internal plus terminal unsaturation greater than 0.7 unsaturations per 1000 carbon atoms, the film having: an Elmendorf Tear value in the machine direction of from 10 g/mil to 300 g/mil, and a Dart Drop Impact of from 100 g/mil to 800 g/mil. In at least one embodiment, the present disclosure provides for processes to make a film.

Abstract: A process is described for producing a multimodal polymer composition comprising a high molecular weight polymer (1) and a low molecular weight polymer (2), wherein the weight ratio of polymer (1) to polymer (2) is at a first value, x. The process comprises compounding in a first compounding stage a mixture of polymer (1) and polymer (2), wherein the weight ratio of polymer (1) to polymer (2) in the mixture is at a second value, y, such that y>x to form a first blend. Polymer (2) is then added to the first blend and the mixture of polymer (2) and the first blend is compounded in a second compounding stage to produce a second blend.
