Abstract:
The present invention relates to methods of conducting assays for enzymatic activity on microarrays useful for the large-scale study of protein function, screening assays, and high-throughput analysis of enzymatic reactions. The invention relates to methods of using protein chips to assay the presence, amount, activity and/or function of enzymes present in a protein sample on a protein chip. In particular, the methods of the invention relate to conducting enzymatic assays using a microarray wherein a protein and a substance are immobilized on the surface of a solid support and wherein the protein and the substance are in proximity to each other sufficient for the occurrence of an enzymatic reaction between the substance and the protein. The invention also relates to microarrays that have an enzyme and a substrate immobilized on their surface wherein the enzyme and the substrate are in proximity to each other sufficient for the occurrence of an enzymatic reaction between the enzyme and the substrate.
Abstract:
This invention involves a wind turbine rotor. A rotor reinforcing device (10) comprise a center connecting device (40) which are fixed on the rotor hub (6); and long and thin blade reinforcing members (21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26) which are connected to center connecting device (40) and corresponding rotor blade (1). The rotor reinforcing device (10) has the advantages of having a light weight and a simple structure. With the help of the center connecting device (40), the rotor can be easily reinforced. This invention also involves a rotor, a rotor-based ocean current turbine, a rotor-based tidal turbine and a rotor-based power generator.
Abstract:
A method of storing and accessing an error correcting code in NAND Flash, includes utilizing n pages of a block of the NAND Flash as an extended space of a spare area, n≦1, wherein when writing data, the data is stored in a data area of a sector, and when the error correcting code needs a space which has correcting capability larger than 16 bytes, first 16 bytes of the error correcting code is stored in the 16 bytes spare area, and the remaining of the error correcting code is stored in the extended space of the spare area corresponding to the sector. Therefore, the method develops new storing space for the error correcting code, arranges the error correcting code in sequence of data blocks in sub-space, and loads the error correcting code into system memory for the decoder before reading original data.
Abstract:
A method for operating a charged particle beam emitting device and, in particular, an electron beam emitting device including a cold field emitter is provided. The method includes the steps of placing the cold field emitter in a vacuum of a given pressure, the emitter exhibiting a high initial emission current I0 and a lower stable mean emission current IS under a given electric extraction field; applying the given electric extraction field to the emitter for emitting electrons from the emitter surface; performing a cleaning process by applying at least one heating pulse to the cold field emitter for heating the emitter surface, whereby the cleaning process is performed before the emission current of the cold field emitter has declined to the lower stable mean emission value IS; and repeating the cleaning process to keep the emission current of the emitter continuously above the substantially stable emission value IS.

Abstract:
The present invention relates to a modified release composition of at least one form of venlafaxine, which is a delayed controlled release composition. The composition comprises a core comprising at least one form of venlafaxine selected from the group consisting of venlafaxine, an active metabolite of venlafaxine, a pharmaceutically acceptable salt of venlafaxine, a pharmaceutically acceptable salt of an active metabolite of venlafaxine, and combinations thereof, less than 10% of a gelling agent and a pharmaceutically acceptable excipient. The composition further comprises a modified release coating which substantially surrounds the core which provides a delayed controlled release of the at least one form of venlafaxine.
Abstract:
A novel orally administrable dosage form including a drug/active layer for loading a therapeutic agent and an extension layer for retaining the API or drug dosage form in the stomach of a subject in need thereof. Also disclosed is a method of treating diseases with the dosage form.
