    摘要： A composition useful for incorporation into polymer compositions employed for food packaging or the like comprising a bis- or tris-methine compound having the structural formula ##STR1## wherein A is selected from the radicals ##STR2## wherein R' and R" are each selected from chlorine, bromine, fluorine, alkyl, alkoxy, aryl, aryloxy and arylthio;each n is independently 0, 1, 2;R.sub.1 is selected from a large variety of radicals such as cycloalkyl, phenyl, and straight or branched alkyl which may be subsituted;R.sub.2 is alkylene or the like;R.sub.3, R.sub.4, and R.sub.5 are each selected from hydrogen and alkyl; andP and Q and P.sup.1 and Q.sup.1 are selected from cyano, carbalkoxy, carbaryloxy, carbaralkyloxy, or the like.The invention compositions are especially useful in combination with molding or fiber-grade condensation polymer; most preferably such polymer having compolymerized therein a total of from 1.0 to about 100,000 ppm, of the reactant residue moieties of one or more of such bis- or tris-methine compounds.

    摘要： Disclosed are colored compositions useful for molding into articles such as food containers, beverage bottles, cured structural plastics and the like comprising condensation polymer having reacted therewith or copolymerized therein a coloring amount of the residue of a colorant compound having the formula; ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 is ##STR2## carbonyl halide or an unsubstituted or substituted carbocyclic or hetrocyclic aryl radical;R.sup.2 is hydrogen or an unsubstituted or substituted alkyl or acyl radical;R.sup.3 is any of the substituents which R.sup.1 may represent; andA.sup.1 and A.sup.2 each is the residue of a fused benzene ring; whereinR.sup.4 is hydrogen, allyl or an unsubstituted or substituted alkyl, cycloalkyl or aryl radical; andR.sup.5 is hydrogen or an unsubstituted or substituted alkyl, cycloalkyl or aryl radical; provided the colorant compound bears at least one substituent that is reactive with one of the monomers from which the condensation polymer is derived.The colorant compound residues are present in the polymer chain and impart a red color to the polymer. The residues are nonextractable from the polymer and stable at the condition at which the polymers are prepared and processed.

    摘要： Colored shapable polyesters having copolymerized therein lignin or lignin derivatives are prepared by condensing the lignin or lignin derivatives into the polyester backbone during the polymerization reaction. The lignin moieties are thermally stable at the polymer processing temperatures and are nonextractable from the polyester backbone. These colored, shapable polyesters are particularly suitable for use in food, beverage, pharmaceutical, or cosmetic container applications.

    摘要： Polyester compositions useful in formed articles such as beverage bottles and having condensation reacted therein at least one UV-absorbing compound of the formula ##STR1## wherein X is hydroxyl, carboxy, carbalkoxy, substituted carbalkoxy, or acyloxy; Y is cyano, carbamyl, substituted carbamyl, aryl, acyl, alkylsulfonyl, substituted alkylsulfonyl, phenylsulfonyl, or substituted phenylsulfonyl; R is selected from -alkylene-O-alkylene-, -alkylene-S-alkylene-, -alkylene-N(-SO.sub.2 alkyl)-alkylene-, straight or branched chain alkylene or such alkylene substituted with an X substituent; and R.sub.1 is hydrogen or 1-3 groups selected from alkyl, alkoxy and halogen.
