    摘要: This is a one-piece conductive clip for use with push-in wire connectors. The one-piece conductive clip retains electrical conductors within the connector and provides electrical connection between two or more conductors. The clip has terminal blocks which include a spring and a busbar. The spring and the busbar are arranged so that the spring clamps a wire inserted between the spring and the busbar. The terminal blocks are arranged in two separate rows where each row is located along a plane generally parallel to the other row. This allows both vertically-stacked and horizontally-adjacent electrical connections between the electrical conductors.

    摘要: A cable harness assembly is provided, which has a low profile, is shielded, and can be constructed at low cost. The assembly is of the type that includes a board (12, FIG. 2) coupled to a connector frame (14) that holds multiple contacts (52) and coupled to a cable (16), wherein insulated wires (24) of the cable run along the board and have bared front ends (50) connected at joints (74) to tails at the rear of the contacts. An underlayer (72) of electrically insulative material lies over the wire-to-tail joints and any other exposed areas of the wires and tails lying on the board, the underlayer having undulations (78, FIG. 3) that follow the contours under it. An overlayer (80, FIG. 2) of electrically conductive plastic material lies over the underlayer and the rest of the board, wires, and cable front portion. The overlayer is connected to the cable shield (30) and provides EMI/ESD shielding, provides tough mechanical holding together of the harness assembly parts, and forms the outline of the assembly rearward of the connector frame.

    摘要: The method for creating an environmental seal for the end of a severed multiconductor cable and for sealing the joints between the conductors of such cable with the contacts of a multiple contact connector into which such cable is inserted. A tape of a soft, pliant material is coated on both sides with a flowable, pressure-sensitive adhesive and is formed into a blank which can be adhered to the cable in various ways. In a first form, the blank encompasses the severed end and portions of the cable adjacent the end. When the connector into which the cable has been inserted is compressed, the adhesive is displaced to seal the contact-conductor joints. Folded-over end flaps seal the cable ends. A midspan use of the blank permits the joints to be sealed without reference to the cable end.

    摘要: An IC card is provided which can be constructed at low cost and which allows adjustment of circuit board position. The circuit board (30, FIG. 2) has forward and rearward end portions (34, 36) which are mounted directly on forward and rearward connectors (12, 14), without a separate frame to mechanically hold them together. A cover (60) with upper and lower parts (66, 68), is mechanically mounted to the connectors and is coupled to the circuit board only in an electrical ground. Each-connector is mounted to a circuit board end by pegs (90, 92) that lie on laterally opposite sides of the row of connector contacts (46), with each peg being received in a hole (100, 102) of the circuit board. The pegs can be separate parts (270, FIG. 12) that project through holes (254) in the board and into holes (250) in the connector, and washers (262) can lie between the board and each connector at locations adjacent to the pegs.

    摘要: A cover assembly for an IC card includes top and bottom covers (52, 54) with overlapping side rails (70, 80). At each side of the card, a downwardly-extending top side rail (70) lies facewise adjacent to an upwardly extending bottom side rail (80), and a layer (90) of solder is sandwiched between the rails and is bonded to each of them. The solder layer extends along most of the height of each cover side, so the two rails and the solder layer between them serve as a single rigid beam. The cover assembly can be, instead, spot welded at a plurality of locations at each side of the card, to weld the two rails facewise together.

    摘要: An IC card is described which has a housing that is of low cost and which provides very good shielding against ESD/EMI (electrostatic discharge and electromagnetic interference), while securely holding a circuit board assembly and providing good contact with a ground conductor of the board. The housing comprises lower and upper housing halves (22, 24, FIG. 2), each molded of an electrically conductive polymer. The lower housing, half includes a bottom cover portion (90) and a pair of upstanding flanges (92, 94) that each forms part of a side of the housing. The upper housing half forms a top cover portion (100) and a pair of downwardly extending flanges (102, 104). The circuit board has a ground conductor (70) at its periphery which is trapped between the upper and lower housing halves to securely hold the circuit board in place and to electrically ground its ground conductor. Each housing half has platform parts (114, 116, 120, 122) that engage corresponding surfaces of the circuit board. The platform parts are staggered along the length of each housing side, to slightly bend each circuit board side and thereby hold the circuit board in place while assuring good electrical contact therewith.

A circuit board (74) has a slot (100), with opposite walls of the circuit board slot received in opposite groove parts of the frame rearward extension. A cable (20) whose front end is held to the rear of the board, has insulated wires (70) held in place against the board by tabs (120) projecting from the rearward extension. A pair of bendable latching arms (34, 36) project forwardly from the front of the frame for reception in a central aperture at the rear of the IC card. The frame has a central opening through which a locking pin (150) can slide to lock the arms in the IC card.
