    摘要: A system and method for driving a stereoscopic image display device includes, during a first period wherein no image is displayed, writing a first data signal corresponding to a first image on a first display cell and writing a second data signal corresponding to a second image on the second display cell. During a second period, the first image and the second image are displayed by driving the barrier to become a first format. During a third period in which no image is displayed, the second data signal is written on the first display cell and the first data signal is written on the second display cell. During a fourth period, the first and second images are displayed by driving the barrier to become a second format. The barrier intercepts and transmits light at different angles in the first format than in the second format.

The image display unit includes pixels having first sub-pixels corresponding to a left-eye image and second sub-pixels corresponding to a right-eye image. The three dimensional display device also includes a parallax barrier which is located proximately to the image display unit. The parallax barrier includes light interception portions and light transmission portions alternately and repeatedly arranged in a direction. The parallax barrier also includes color filters arranged between the light interception portions and the light transmission portions. The color filters control paths of lights from the pixels.

The stereoscopic image display device includes a display unit for displaying an image, a driver, and a controller. The controller receives a synchronization signal, the 3D graphics data, and a user selection parameter for modifying a stereoscopic effect level, and outputs a control signal based on the synchronization signal and a stereoscopic image data signal, which is generated by combining left eye image data and right eye image data generated through performing matrix operations on the 3D graphics data and the user selection parameter, to the driver. The driver drives the display unit based on the control signal and the stereoscopic image data signal to display the stereoscopic image on the display unit.

A display panel time-divides first and second images having parallax therebetween and sequentially displays the first and second images. A barrier is located in front of the display panel and includes first and second image transmission regions transmitting the first and second images. A barrier driver controls opening and shutting of the first and second image transmission regions in synchronization with first and second video signals input thereto. The barrier driver extracts all video signals displayed on one picture from the input video signals as unit video signals and generates a reference signal for the barrier operation based on the unit video signals.
