    Abstract: A radio access node (RAN) and method of operation of the RAN are provided. The RAN includes a massive multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) antenna array. The RAN includes a processing hardware configured to carry out a communication method that includes receiving a digital data stream for transmission on a time-frequency resource. The RAN precodes the digital data stream using a digital beamforming stage to render a precoded digital downlink data stream for downlink data stream signal transmission to a user equipment. The digital beamforming stage includes a first precoding stage configured according to a long-term matrix, and a second precoding stage configured according to a short-term matrix. The RAN is further configured to generate a downlink data stream transmission signal to the user equipment in accordance with the precoded digital downlink data stream.

    Abstract: The present disclosure provides a method and an apparatus for transmitting a measurement signal. A method for sending a measurement signal includes: sending, by a network device, downlink measurement signals to a terminal device by using one or more transmit beams; receiving, by the network device, a detection result, fed back by the terminal device, of signal strength of the downlink measurement signals of the one or more transmit beams; and when detecting that the detection result, fed back by the terminal device, of the downlink measurement signals is lower than a specified threshold, instructing, by the network device, the terminal device to use an uplink measurement signal-based measurement manner. According to the method, switching between measurement manners is performed based on a detection result, thereby reducing signaling overheads.

    Abstract: Embodiments of this application provide a processing method for tracking a UE in a low power mode, and a device. The method includes: obtaining transmission configuration information between the UE and a network device, where the transmission configuration information indicates that an uplink tracking signal is to be sent according to a discontinuous transmission mode, and the transmission configuration information includes a transmission cycle. When the UE enters a low power mode, sending, an uplink tracking signal to the network device based on the transmission configuration information; and receiving TA adjustment information returned by the network device, where the TA adjustment information is obtained by the network device through detection of the uplink tracking signal.

    Abstract: A synchronization processing method, including sending, in a first time unit, by a network device, a first synchronization signal having one or more first beams to a terminal device, and sending, in a second time unit, a second synchronization signal having one or more second beams to the terminal device. The first synchronization signal and the second synchronization signal cause the terminal device to determine, according to the first synchronization signal and the second synchronization signal, an optimal transmit beam of the network device for the terminal device from the one or more first beam and the one or more second beams, and further to determine a time sequence in which the optimal transmit beam is located.
