    Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed relating to welding-type power supplies. In some examples, the power supplies may have no vents, which may help prevent environmental contaminants from entering the power supplies. Instead, the power supplies include one or more thermal interfaces configured to conduct heat generated by internal circuitry of the power supply from the interior of the power supply to an exterior of the power supply. Additionally, the thermal interface(s) may be configured for attachment to one or more exterior heat dissipating devices.

    Abstract: A tool less method of connecting a welding-type power source with a cart is disclosed. In some examples, the cart may be configured to carry one or more gas bottles (and/or cylinders). In some examples, the power source housing and the cart may connect at interfacing ends and/or walls of the housing and cart. A connector, such as a clip for example, may span the interface to connect the power source housing and the cart. Catches (e.g. slots, holes, crevices, and/or protrusions) may be formed in and/or on the power supply housing and/or cart proximate to the interfacing ends and/or walls. In some examples, the catches may be aligned. In some examples, the cart and/or power source housing may include alignment surfaces to assist with alignment. The connector may engage the aligned catches to connect the welding-type power source and cart together at the interface.

    Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed relating to smart spool detection for welding-type systems. In some examples, the smart spool detection system uses one or more first sensors and/or second sensors to detect and/or determine a first parameter of the spool (e.g. size). One or more second sensors are used to detect and/or determine a second parameter of the spool. In some examples, the second parameter may be a weight of the spool, a distance to the filler material (e.g., wire) retained on the spool, and/or an angle of a guide arm lever supported by filler material retained on the spool. The smart spool detection system determines a remaining amount of consumable filler material remaining on the spool using the first and second parameters.

    Abstract: Systems and apparatus are disclosed relating to smart regulators and smart manifolds for welding-type systems. A smart regulator may be coupled to a fluid tank and provide information regarding the current pressure(s) and/or flow rate to a remote device and/or operator. The remote device may also determine and/or output additional information, such as, for example, remaining fluid and/or remaining time before the fluid runs out or becomes dangerously low. A smart manifold may be configured to work with several different fluid supplies. In this way, an operator may easily mix fluid types, switch between different fluid types, and/or switch between different fluid tanks.

    Abstract: A bolt-through type power connector includes a metal plate portion and a metal attachment portion. The bolt-through type power connector has a first end and a second end. The bolt-through type power connector includes a metal plate portion at the first end. The metal plate portion includes a structure that is configured to support one or more ring terminals of one or more power cables. The structure is (a) a through hole, which is in the metal plate portion and sized to receive a bolt that is configured to support the one or more ring terminals, or (b) a stud, which is configured to support the one or more ring terminals. The metal attachment portion extends from the metal plate portion to the second end. The metal attachment portion has a male engagement portion with a flange portion that provides a surface facing the second end. The male engagement portion has an outer profile for receipt of hardware to secure the bolt-through type connector within an opening of a bulkhead assembly. The bolt-through type power connector is structured to effectively carry a current that is equal to or greater than 450 amperes.

    Abstract: A welding system includes a housing having a front panel assembly. The welding system also includes first and second handles. The first handle is coupled to a first side of the front panel assembly and the second handle is coupled to a second side of the front panel assembly that is opposite from the first side. Each handle includes a recessed handle portion having an inner wall that forms an angle of between approximately 60 degrees and approximately 80 degrees with respect to an outer wall of the respective handle. The first and second handles are symmetrical about a central axis such that the first and second handles are interchangeable with each other. In addition, the first and second handles each include a plurality of internal tabs on both top and bottom sides of the first and second handles. The internal tabs facilitate coupling and alignment of the first and second handles with the front panel assembly.

    Abstract: Some examples of the present disclosure relate to the use of protrusions to create electrical continuity between surfaces of a welding-type device housing. In some examples, protrusions may be positioned proximate fastener holes of a housing surface, thereby allowing for a clamp force applied to fasteners extending through the fastener holes to be transferred to the protrusions. The clamp force combined with a sharpness of the protrusions may allow the protrusions to abrasively move and/or remove an electrically insulating powder coating finish from both the protrusions themselves and/or an adjoining housing surface, thereby exposing an underlying electrically conductive material. The exposed electrically conductive material of the protrusion of one housing surface and the exposed electrically conductive material of the adjoining housing surface may be put in contact with one another to create electrical continuity between the housing surfaces.
