Abstract: According to one embodiment, a display device includes a first substrate and a second substrate which are opposed to each other, wherein the second substrate includes, in a display area where an image is displayed, first light shields extending in a first direction and arranged apart from each other in a second direction which crosses the first direction, second light shields extending in the second direction and arranged apart from each other in the first direction, and an intermediate layer disposed between the first light shields and the second light shields, and the first light shields cross the second light shields via the intermediate layer.

Abstract: According to one embodiment, an array substrate comprises source lines arranged in a first direction, gate lines arranged in second direction, pixels, first and second switching elements, a first pixel includes a first pixel electrode connected to the first switching element via a first contact hole formed on one side of a first gate line, and a second pixel includes a second pixel electrode connected to the second switching element via a second contact hole formed on the other side of the first gate line. A counter-substrate comprises a first light-shielding portion opposed to the first gate line and the first contact hole, and a second light-shielding portion opposed to the first gate line and the second contact hole. A spacer is present between substrates.

Abstract: According to one embodiment, a display device comprises metal lines which are in contact with a structural electrode. A first filter overlaps with first and second pixels, and a second filter overlaps with second and fourth pixels. First to fourth structural electrodes overlap with first to fourth pixels respectively. A first slit extends between first and second pixels, and a second slit extends between third and fourth pixels. The first metal line is formed between first and second structural electrodes to cover part of the first slit, and the second metal line is formed between third and fourth structural electrodes to cover part of the second slit.

Abstract: An array substrate includes a gate line extending in a first direction, a source line extending in a second direction orthogonally crossing the first direction and an auxiliary capacitance line having a trunk portion extending in the first direction so as to cross the source line and a branch portion branched from the trunk portion and extending along the source line. A switching element includes a drain line arranged under the auxiliary capacitance line so as to face the trunk portion and the branch portion thereof. A pixel electrode includes a main pixel electrode extending substantially in parallel to the source line and a contact portion electrically connected with the drain line. A counter substrate includes a couple of main common electrodes extending substantially in parallel to the main pixel electrode on the both sides sandwiching the main pixel electrode.

Abstract: A first interlayer insulating film is arranged on a gate line and a source line. A first common electrode includes a first sub-common electrode extending in the first direction on the first interlayer insulating film and facing the gate line. A second interlayer insulating film covers the first common electrode. A pixel electrode includes a first main pixel electrode extending in the second direction on the second interlayer insulating film. A second common electrode includes a second sub-common electrode and a second main common electrode and set to the same potential as the first common electrode. The second sub-common electrode extends on the second interlayer insulating film in the first direction so as to face the first sub-common electrode, and is cut out on a straight line along which the first main pixel electrode extends.
