Abstract:
A process is disclosed for regeneration of an activated carbon, characterized by inclusion therein of polymerized phosphoric acid, after having been spent by use in purification and decolorization of hydrocarbon fuel, particularly gasoline. The invention process includes the steps of evaporation of gasoline, devolatization of color bodies, and oxidation of color body residues, which steps may be carried out sequentially or accomplished in a single unit operation.
Abstract:
An activated carbon, disclosed as useful in purification and decolorization of hydrocarbon fuel, particularly gasoline, is characterized by inclusion therein of polymerized phosphoric acid or reduced transition metals. Phosphoric acid may be added to a non-phosphoric acid-activated carbon (such as steam activated coal-based) prior to the subsequent heat treatment or one can take advantage of residual phosphoric acid present in, for example, a phosphoric acid-activated wood-based carbon. Similarly, transition metals such as copper may be added to an activated carbon in a salt form in addition to whatever is already present therein as impurities. The conversion of phosphoric acid to a polymerized phosphate content or reduction of transition metals to a reduced form results from the activated carbon having been treated with inert gas or carbon dioxide at from about 1200° F. to about 1800° F. for at least 5 minutes. Alternatively, the conversion of phosphoric acid to a polymerized phosphate content can occur during phosphoric acid activation of carbon at activation temperatures in the range of 1150°-1600° F.
Abstract:
A process for removing color bodies from hydrocarbon-based fuels, particularly gasoline, using an activated carbon is disclosed. Color bodies are removed from the fuel by contacting the fuel with such activated carbon having within this pore structure a fuel decolorizing amount of polymerized phosphoric acid or reduced transition metals.
Abstract:
A tool for installing threaded parts with lock nuts onto a machine is disclosed. The tool includes an outer tube and an inner mechanism that rotate together or independently using cogs. When the outer tube and inner mechanism rotate together, the threaded part is tightened onto a machine. When the outer tube and inner mechanism rotated independently, the lock nut is tightened onto the threaded part.
Abstract:
Methods and systems for imaging a patient are provided. The method includes determining a location of a volume of interest within the patient and acquiring a plurality of frames of emission data, at least one frame including the volume of interest. The method further includes determining a time-of-flight (TOF) information of at least a portion of the annihilations detected along a line of response between corresponding coincidence detectors and generating an image of the patient from the emission data using the determined TOF information.
Abstract:
A method of suppressing or curbing appetite and treating or preventing obesity comprising administering to a human or other mammal in need of such treatment an effective amount of plant material derived or derivable from plants of the genera Stapelia and Orbea.
Abstract:
The plastic container includes a hollow body of plastic material having a lower supporting base, a sidewall extending upwardly from the lower base and an upper neck portion extending upwardly from the sidewall with an opening therein. The sidewall includes at least one panel having a central region and an outer boundary, with the outer boundary being depressed with respect to the central region.
Abstract:
A strategy is described for associating an InternalsVisibleTo (IVT) attribute with a non-public resource of a first assembly. The IVT attribute names a second assembly. By virtue of the IVT attribute, during runtime, the non-public resource in the first assembly is made visible to the second assembly. In addition to naming the second assembly, the IVT attribute can include a number of optional arguments, such as arguments which specify the version, culture, and public key token associated with the second assembly.
Abstract:
This invention relates to materials and methods of drilling printed circuit boards. In one embodiment, this invention provides a lubricated backup board comprising a core material, a lubricant, and an outer shell material and a process for using said backup board. In another embodiment, this invention provides an entry board comprising a lubricant and an outer shell material and a process for using said entry board. In preferred embodiments the lubricant layers are substantially separate and distinct layers. In preferred embodiments, adhesive is used to secure the layers together. In one embodiment, said processes allows for reuse and/or replacement of various layers of preferred backup and/or entry boards.
Abstract:
A thermoplastic, thermally-conductive interface article is provided. The interface article is elastomeric and can be used to provide a thermally-conductive pathway between a heat-generating product such as an electronic device and a heat-sink. The interface article also can have good electrical-conductivity. The elastomeric interface article is made from a composition comprising a base thermoplastic elastomer matrix, thermally-conductive filler material, and temperature-activated phase change material.
