    摘要: A multitool punch holder (12) having a head member (26) coupled to a punch press ram (16) as the press upper turret plate (22) rotates to bring the punch holder (12) into alignment with the ram (16). The punch holder (12) includes a rotary tool carrier (56) carrying a series of punches (80), each able to be selectively rotated into alignment beneath a striker rod (100) slidably mounted in a non rotating body member (30). Stroking of the ram (16) causes an engagement feature (108) to engage the striker rod (100) when the head member (26) telescopes into the body member (30) after axial movement of the holder (12) is arrested by contact with the workpiece (120). The striker rod (100) is then driven to force the coupled individual punch (80) into the workpiece (120). The striker rod (100) is urged to a raised position by an encircling stripper spring (110). A separation spring (42) urges the ram (16) and body member (30) to retracted position with the striker rod (100) out of engagement with the ram engagement feature (108). A detachable striker plate (88) of urethane provides non-marring contact with the workpiece (120).

A pair of holders (20) are movable on machine (10) to provide for two axes positioning of a worksheet. Workholder (20) is formed from a box shaped member (32) having a pivot arm (31) movable about a pivot connection (42) within box member (32) and extending therefrom. A fixed jaw (34) extends from box member (32). A movable clamping jaw (30) is formed at the free end of pivot arm (31). A linear actuator bar (26) engages pivot arm (31) and forces jaws (31, 34) to close on a worksheet. Linear actuator bar (26) and pivot arm (31) are constructed to make the workholder (20) self locking. An appropriate actuator is provided for positioning bar (26).

    摘要: A system is disclosed for neutralizing the punching reaction forces in an open frame punch press in which inclined primary links mounted on the upper and lower frame members are stressed by linkage actuators during punching so as to counteract the punching reaction force. In one embodiment, a charging cylinder mounted to be acted on by the punch ram actuator generates hydraulic pressure used to operate linkage actuators. In that embodiment, the primary links are combined with secondary links to form toggle linkages to enable mechanical force multiplication of the force applied by the linkage actuators. In another embodiment the primary links converge and are pivotally connected at their rear ends to each other and a single secondary link, with a single cylinder at the forward end of one of the primary links, placing the primary links in tension during punching operations to neutralize the punching reaction forces acting on the press frame.

    摘要: An anechoic chamber having a rotatable corner in the nature of a rotating door which permits the selection of a desired one of four right angle corners to be introduced into operative engagement with the room. In the use of the anechoic chamber, with a selected corner in position facing into the chamber, a sound seal is provided about the periphery of the frame of the rotating door. The walls of the anechoic chamber are covered by sound absorbent material, and one of the four corners which may be positioned in the chamber through rotation of the rotating door contains surfaces similarly covered by sound absorbent material. Another of the four corners is a trihedral corner including a base, or floor, for supporting a corner speaker.

    摘要: A mail processing system is described for performing several basic functions. The first of these entails the receipt by the system of mail in single file or in small clumps which arrive synchronously or asynchronously in a random manner. Secondly, the system stores or buffers the mail in an orderly shingled fashion wherein the first batch of mail stored is the first batch to subsequently exit the buffer. Finally, the third function involves the output feeding of the shingled batch of mail from the system to further processing equipment. The system may advantageously include for some applications one or more singulators for generating from the shingled batch, a defined stream of mail pieces separated from one another. It is a significant feature of the buffer feeder system that the above-mentioned functions are interwoven such that the system is capable of receiving and storing one batch of mail while concurrently feeding out a previously stored batch.

    摘要: A document singulator is described for use in separating into single items mail pieces derived from a source of collection mail. The device comprises a plurality of spaced-apart singulation stations each having a friction roller and adapted to be actuated in a predetermined manner to effect the separation of documents lying on top of one another. The rollers are mounted in an inclined slide which has a compound slope and a single registration wall, thereby assuring mail flow down the length of the slide as well as proper registration of the mail pieces at each station. The device is capable of processing a variety of mail pieces including flats such as magazines, folded newspapers, etc., and is virtually free from hard, mail-damaging jams.

    摘要: A device is described for capturing certain predetermined types of mail pieces from a moving mail flow and for regulating the subsequent delivery thereof to processing equipment. The device is comprised of a receiving station and a delivery station linked by a common narrow transport. The latter forms a shallow shelf or ledge situated at the bottom of the receiving station and adapted at any given time to catch a limited number of certain types of mail from a mixed stream as it flows through the station. Additionally, the receiving station includes a vane-like member for selectively deflecting all of the mail from the transport. The operation of the member is under control of the delivery station and depends upon whether or not mail pieces awaiting further processing downstream are present in the station. The motion of the transport is controlled by both the delivery station and the processing equipment to insure that they will be kept continuously supplied with mail.
