Abstract:
A rehabilitation plan for an individual with a medical condition is selected in view of physical dimensions and personal environment dimensions of the individual that can impact successful use of an instrument for treating the medical condition. Measurement results obtained from assessments of respective physical dimensions and personal environment dimensions of the individual are used to define respective diagnostics metrics, and also to generate diagnostic and goal scores for the respective metrics. A rehabilitation plan for the individual is selected in view of the diagnostic and goal scores with the intention of increasing an individual's compatibility with the plan and the likelihood of success for rehabilitation. The selection of a rehabilitation plan can include querying a database including previously prescribed rehabilitation plans indexed by physical and personal environment dimensions characteristics of respective patients that were prescribed the rehabilitation plans.
Abstract:
A virtual reality network provides access to a number of virtual reality representations, each virtual reality representation representing a location in a virtual universe and defined by VR data stored on the network. The VR data can be in a simplified data format and include data from an intelligent personal assistant and knowledge navigator (IPAKN). A database stores the network address and the location in the universe of each virtual reality representation. A database server provides access to the database. The database server generates a list of locations in response to a location query from a visitor, and provides the network address of the virtual reality representation of a selected location. A visitor connects to the database server with a client host to visit the locations in the virtual universe.

Abstract:
Disclosed is a novel non-volatile, ferroelectric random access memory (F-RAM) device and a method for fabricating a damascene self-aligned F-RAM device structure on a planar surface using a reduced number of masks and etching steps.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to optimizing sound for a person based on his or her location and hearing profile. More particularly, the present invention relates to personalizing the sound of an event or performance by examining the technical specifications of an individual's hearing aid (which is provided by a third party) and the acoustics of an establishment. Using this information, a place of business alters the settings of each hearing aid device to optimize the sound for each individual.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for routing waste collection vehicles. In one embodiment, a method includes determining a location of a waste collection vehicle on a route. A data repository includes a plurality of customer accounts. Each customer account includes a billing status and a customer location. The data repository is monitored to detect changes to the billing status of at least one customer account. A waste collection vehicle route is generated based on detecting a change to the billing status of at least one customer account associated with the route and a location of the waste collection vehicle at the time of the detected change. The route update is transmitted to the waste collection vehicle, thereby enabling the waste collection vehicle to provide service or not provide service at the customer location associated with the change to the billing status.
Abstract:
The present invention is a system for and method of adjusting hearing aids (130) by discrete frequency ranges (FIG. 3a); continual tuning and reprogramming of the hearing aid is accomplished in real time via iterations between a patient (with hearing aid in ear, 120) and an audiologist (131). A test tone or other sound is played and the patient gives feedback on the test tone's suitability (such as loudness). The hearing aid (130) is further tuned and reprogrammed accordingly as the sound is replayed and the patient (120) gives additional feedback. These steps continue until the patient (120) considers the hearing optimized, compensating for both the patient's hearing loss and individual preferences in the discrete frequency ranges. The following are twelve commonly tested frequency ranges: 125 Hz, 250 Hz, 750 Hz, 1000 Hz, 1500 Hz, 2000 Hz, 3000 Hz, 4000 Hz, 5000 Hz, 6000 Hz, 8000 Hz, and 10,000 Hz.
Abstract:
A method of using wastewater sludge in the production of concrete comprising mixing cement, aggregate and wastewater sludge to form a concrete mix in which the additional step is carried out of mixing the wastewater sludge with an alkaline solution to achieve a wastewater sludge and alkaline solution mixture having a pH equal to or in excess of 11.5 prior to mixing with the aggregate and cement. Such a method is a simple and efficient method of producing ready usable concrete and will not require expensive sterilisation steps such as heat or radiation treatment. The wastewater sludge is disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner and will not undergo incineration or have to be dumped at sea or landfill.
Abstract:
A data storage media including customized hearing training information is created using troublesome content identified based on testing of an individual's hearing profile. The identified content, and amplification factors associated with the hearing profile and corresponding to the identified content, are stored on the media. The individual can readily access the media, which can be portable, to generate sound output representative of the identified content without, and adjusted by, the corresponding amplification factor, such that the individual can train his brain on the identified troublesome content before receiving a hearing aid.
