摘要： A liquid crystal display is provided, which includes: a liquid crystal panel including a gate line, a data line, and a pixel including a switching element connected to the gate line and the data line; a gate driver applying a gate signal for controlling the switching element to the gate line; and a data driver selecting gray voltages corresponding to gray signals and applying the selected gray voltages to the data line. The gate signal includes a gate-on voltage for turning on the switching element and a gate-off voltage for turning off the switching element. The gray voltages include pairs of positive and negative voltages (V+, V−) and V + + V - 2 = Vconst for each gray, where Vconst indicates a predetermined level. The gate-on voltage continuously decreases from a first level to a second level for a predetermined time, and the first level (Von1) and the second level (Von2) satisfy a relation given by, Von   1 + Vconst 2 - Von   1 + Vconst 2 × 10  % ≤ Von   2 ≤ Von   1 + Vconst 2 + Von   1 + Vconst 2 × 10  % .

摘要： A driver circuit drives display device and LCD device has a driver circuit that includes driving stages and dummy stage. The driving stage includes output and control terminals. The output terminal of the present stage is connected to the control terminal of the previous state to be cascade-connected each other. The driving stage outputs driving signal for controlling the switching device arranged on the display device through the output terminal. The dummy stage includes dummy output terminal and dummy control terminal. The dummy output terminal is connected to the control terminal of the last driving stage to output dummy output signal for turning on or off the last driving stage. The dummy control terminal is connected to the dummy output terminal to be turned on or off by the dummy output signal. The delay of signals is reduced, thereby enhancing display quality.

The inverter driving apparatus includes a plurality of inverter boards for generating driving signals for driving respective lamp units based on a control signal and a voltage signal. Each lamp unit includes at least one lamp, and the plurality of inverter boards are connected in series and include a first outer inverter board receiving the control signal and a second outer inverter board located opposite the first outer inverter board receiving the voltage signal. Each of the plurality of inverter boards transmits the control signal and/or the voltage signal to at least one of the plurality of inverter boards adjacent thereto.

The LCD includes: a viewing angle detector for detecting the viewing angle of an LCD panel to generate information about the viewing angle, and a gamma curve determiner for selecting a gamma curve corresponding to the information of the viewing angle and controlling the gray level with a gamma voltage value defined by the selected gamma curve. The viewing angle detector has a driving voltage generator and a voltage divider. The driving voltage generator outputs a gate-on/off voltage and an analog driving voltage based on an externally input power, and the voltage divider drops the level of the gate-on voltage to generate a first voltage. A viewing angle generator outputs information about the viewing angle based on the analog driving voltage and the first voltage.

摘要： A liquid crystal display (“LCD”) having a plurality of gray voltages with varying magnitudes and a driving method thereof. An LCD includes a reference voltage generator changing level of a supply voltage based on a first signal to generate a reference voltage. The first signal varies depending on the surrounding brightness of the LCD, the brightness of the on-screen images of the LCD, and user's manipulation. The LCD also includes a gray voltage generator generating a plurality of gray voltages with magnitudes varying dependent on the magnitude of the reference voltage and a predetermined voltage such as a ground voltage. The LCD further includes a plurality of gate lines transmitting a plurality of gate signals, a plurality of data lines transmitting the gray voltages, and a plurality of pixels. Each pixel has a switching element connected to one of the gate lines and one of the data lines and transmitting the gray voltages to the pixels under the control of the gate signal. The LCD includes a gate driver supplying the gate signals to the gate lines and a data driver selecting the gray voltages based on gray data from an external source to supply to the pixels via the data lines.

A liquid crystal display according to the present invention comprises: a liquid crystal panel assembly including a plurality of gate lines, a plurality of data lines which are insulated from and intersects the gate lines, and a plurality of pixels each of which is formed in an area defined by the data line and the gate line and has a switching element connected to the gate line and the data line; a gate driver for supplying gate voltages to the gate lines; at least one data driver for supplying data voltages corresponding to image data to the data lines; and a timing controller for comparing nth image data applied from outside and (n−1)th image data stored therein and selectively providing the nth image data to the data driver depending on the comparison result. According to the present invention, since image data transmission between the timing controller and the data driver can be minimized, power consumption and EMI due to image data switching can be reduced.
