Abstract: A communication control method according to a first aspect is a method performed by a user equipment in a mobile communication system for providing a multicast broadcast service (MBS) from a base station to the user equipment. The communication control method includes receiving, from the base station, a PDCP packet encrypted by using a count value including a PDCP sequence number and a hyper frame number and transmitted in an MBS session; generating an inferred hyper frame number by inferring the hyper frame number; attempting decoding of the PDCP packet by using an inferred count value including the PDCP sequence number included in the PDCP packet received and the inferred hyper frame number; and determining the inferred hyper frame number as a valid hyper frame number when the decoding is successful.

When location information is unavailable to the receiving UE device, the receiving UE device transmits the distance-based HARQ feedback if the signal strength of a signal received from the transmitting UE device is above a threshold and does not send the HARQ feedback if the signal quality is below the threshold. The threshold may be received from the transmitting UE device.
