There is provided a disk array apparatus designed to realize high-speed recovery processing in occurrence of an error while preventing a reduction in total storage capacity due to the use of parity disks. A disk with a high access frequency is set in a group constituted by a small number of disks, whereas a disk with a low access frequency is set in a group constituted by a large number of disks. In a group constituted by a small number of disks, since the number of disks used for recovery is small, the disk access frequency in recovery processing becomes low, and high-speed recovery processing can be realized. In a group constituted by a large number of disks, since the ratio of the parity disk capacity to the total capacity is low, a reduction in disk capacity is small.

The image data transferred onto the work memory is stored as it is in a region on a display memory for storing a content displayed on a display, the region corresponding to the display window. Even when an unshielded part of the display window includes a plurality of rectangular regions, the enlargement or reduction processing can be performed at once, with a result that an image can be clearly displayed without causing any shift between any two images on the rectangular regions.

CPU of a sheet processing apparatus reads a sheet by a scanner, stores the image of the sheet in an image memory, checks to determine whether expanding, reducing, rotating, synthesizing or other editing operations have been performed for the sheet image stored in the image memory and performs processing for converting the image to a recognizable size and rotating an image before recognizing the read sheet image when determining that editing has been performed. CPU further recognizes sheet ID information contained in the sheet image stored in the image memory by means of a character recognizing section, selects an unrecorded sheet image corresponding to the sheet ID information from a hard disk, stores the image in the image memory and prints out by way of a printer. Thus, sheets synthesized, expanded/reduced, rotated or edited in other ways can be recognized and high image quality of clean and unrecorded sheets can always be provided, thereby maintaining a good recognition rate.

Helicobacter pylori-colonized Mongolian gerbils prepared by oral inoculation of a broth culture obtained from a liquid culture of Helicobacter pylori, to the Mongolian gerbils for intragastric colonization of Helicobacter pylori. These Mongolian gerbil models are useful for screening the therapeutic efficacies of drugs against Helicobacter pylori, as well as elucidation of pathology of Helicobacter pylori disease in humans. Moreover, the medium of the present invention for isolating Helicobacter pylori, which is supplemented with vancomycin, trimethoprim, amphotericin B, polymyxin B and 2,3,5-triphenyltetrazolium chloride, enables selective and efficient detection of Helicobacter pylori colonized in their Mongolian gerbils which have microorganisms living in stomach. A combined use of the above-mentioned Mongolian gerbil models and the medium for isolating Helicobacter pylori enables screening of an anti-Helicobacter pylori substance at an animal levels thereby enabling accurate prediction of clinical effects of the anti-Helicobacter pylori substance.
