Abstract: An air filter assembly includes a seat assembly, an air filter unit, and an electronic control unit. The seat assembly may include a seat base and/or a seat back. The air filter assembly may include one or more sensors, and/or the electronic control unit may be configured to automatically control the air filter unit according to information from the one or more sensors. The one or more sensors may include a biometric sensor. The biometric sensor may be configured to detect a body odor of an occupant disposed on the seat assembly. The one or more sensors may include a position sensor. The electrical control unit may be configured to automatically control the air filter unit according to information from the position sensor.

Abstract: A head restraint is provided for a seat for use with a motor vehicle. The head restraint further includes at least one movement mechanism associated with at least one of the base and the main portion and configured to move at least part of the main portion laterally or upwardly and downwardly relative to the base.

Abstract: A vehicle seat controller is provided to control a front seat assembly and a rear seat assembly positioned directly behind of the front seat assembly. The vehicle seat controller programmed to receive a first input indicating whether the rear seat assembly is occupied and receive a second input indicating a position of the front seat assembly. The vehicle seat controller is programmed to provide a signal to an actuator to move the front seat assembly forward if the first input indicates the rear seat is occupied and the second input indicates the position exceeds a rearward travel threshold.

Abstract: A vehicle trim assembly comprises a foam bun, an electrically insulative top finish layer above the foam bun, a thermal gradient assembly under the finish trim layer, and a thermal enhancement layer between the thermal gradient assembly and the finish trim layer. The thermal gradient assembly is adapted to generate a thermal gradient when receiving an electric current and has an electrically conductive top layer, an electrically conductive bottom layer, and a semiconductor layer having first and second semiconductor regions between the top and bottom layers. The thermal enhancement layer has a thermal conductivity adapted to direct thermal energy transfer between the thermal gradient assembly and the finish trim layer.

Abstract: A method for a vehicle includes using sensors in a vehicle seat to detect biometrics of a person sitting in the seat and a vehicle controller determining from the biometrics of the person whether the person requires medical attention. In response to the person requiring medical attention, a request for assistance for the person is broadcasted via a V2X transceiver of the vehicle to medical practitioners of a medical practitioner network who are near a location of vehicle during the broadcasting. The medical practitioner network includes the person as a subscriber and medical practitioners as providers. Alternately, in response to the person requiring medical attention, the vehicle controller uses an autonomous vehicle control system of the vehicle to drive the vehicle to a medical facility.

Abstract: Seats and methods for controlling a seat are described. A position of the user's leg is sensed relative to the position of the front of the seat. A determination is made as to if the position of the user's leg from a front of the seat is greater than a gap minimum. If the gap is greater than the gap minimum, a cushion length extender portion of the seat is moved until the sensed position is less than or equal to the gap minimum. In an example, the remainder of seat base is held in a fixed position within the vehicle environment. In an example, sensing can include capacitively sensing a position of the user's leg. In an example, sensing can use at least one of a thermal sensor, a light sensor, a radio frequency sensor, a microwave sensor or combinations thereof to sense the position of the user's leg. The gap minimum can be with the cushion length extender portion in slight contact with the user's leg. The sensor can be at a front face of seat. The sensor can be on the cushion length extender portion of the seat.

Abstract: A head restraint assembly is provided with a first guide member mounted proximate to a vehicle seat back. A second guide member is mounted to the first guide member for translation along the first guide member. A locking mechanism is mounted to the second guide member in cooperation with the first guide member for locking the second guide member relative to the first guide member. The first and second guide members are the only guide members to minimize binding. The locking mechanism includes a torsion spring connected to the first guide member and oriented about the second guide member for locking the second guide member relative to the first guide member.
