    摘要: Mesoporous materials and a method for making such materials is disclosed in which the mesoporous materials are made by forming an aqueous solution having an organometallic compound; adding a solution comprising a pore forming material selected from the group consisting of monomeric polyols, polyacids, polyamines, carbohydrates, oligopeptides, oligonucleic acids, carbonyl functional organic compounds, and mixtures and derivatives of these materials to form a sol get matrix by polycondensation; drying the sot gel matrix; and removing the pore forming material from the dried sot-gel matrix to thereby form a mesoporous material. The mesoporous materials have pore diameters of from about 20 Å to about 100 Å and may be used with a biologically active agent immobilized within the pores of the mesoporous material and introduced into a biological system.

    摘要: An electro-optic waveguide device comprising an electro-optic polymer core and at least one crosslinked polymer clad, wherein the crosslinked polymer clad is comprised of a first constitutional unit derived from a compound having the formula wherein, m=0-6; n=0-1; q=1-3; y=0-3; Ar1 is an aryl or heteroaryl group; and independently at each occurrence p=0-1; R is an alkyl, heteroalkyl, aryl, or heteroaryl group; Ar2 is an aryl or heteroaryl group; and X is a crosslinkable group. The R group may be an alkyl or heteroalkyl group with at least 6 atoms in a straight chain. In some embodiments, the R group is an alkoxy capped oligoalkylene group. Other embodiments include a polymer comprising a first constitutional unit derived from a compound having the formula described above.

The trap element may include tin. The donor or acceptor element may include indium and/or antimony. Bonding includes cross-linking via oxygen bonds and via organic cross-linkers. The material may be formed as a hybrid sol-gel. The material may have optical transmission and refractive index characteristics. The material may be formed as optical cladding proximal to a non-linear optical layer, and may form a portion of a second order nonlinear optical device. The second order nonlinear optical device may include and electro-optic device including an organic chromophore-loaded modulation layer.
