摘要: A third-harmonic generation method includes frequency-quadrupling a fundamental optical beam via cascaded second-harmonic generation to yield a fourth-harmonic optical beam. The method also includes down-converting the fourth-harmonic optical beam to yield a third-harmonic optical beam. A third harmonic generator includes a monolithic optical element having nonzero quadratic electric susceptibility to (i) frequency-quadruple a fundamental optical beam via cascaded second-harmonic generation, and (ii) down-convert a fourth-harmonic optical beam to yield a third-harmonic optical beam.

摘要: A laser source includes a first laser device configured to generate a first laser beam having a first wavelength, a second laser device configured to generate a second laser beam having a second wavelength, which is different from the first wavelength, and a non-linear crystal configured to receive simultaneously the first and second laser beams and to generate a third laser beam that has a third wavelength, which is larger than each of the first and second wavelengths. The non-linear crystal has a length and a width, and a variable poling period is distributed across the width so that the third wavelength varies within a given wavelength range based on an incident position of the first and second laser beams along the width of the non-linear crystal.

摘要: Systems, devices, and methods of the present invention provide for the effective generation of high-speed modulated light using difference frequency generation (DFG). Modulated light in the mid-IR region may be generated in an optical resonator with a DFG device and having a Q factor greater than about 50 for a signal light with a wavelength in the range between 1350 and 1550 nm. A DFG device may generate the modulated mid-IR light by collinear passage of the intracavity signal light and a modulated pump light having a wavelength in the range between 1000 and 1100 nm through the DFG device. The modulated pump could be used for pumping both a signal lasing media and a DFG device at the same time.

摘要: Bright entangled photon sources including an alignment-free, fiber-based, mechanically-rugged and generic interferometric module are disclosed. The inherent phase-stability of a Sagnac interferometer is deployed. High down-conversion efficiency of periodically poled nonlinear-waveguides is combined with the optical gain of semiconductor optical amplifiers and immunity of fiber optics. A single compact interferometric engine combines these attributes, allowing highly stable, integrable and bright polarization entangled-photon sources operating at room temperature. Using a minimum number of in-line optical parts, the compact module is based on a novel method that enhances the long-term stability and efficiency without compromising the entanglement quality. Besides energy entanglement, polarization entanglement is presented and set through the operational conditions. An optional periodically poled nonlinear waveguide can be hosted to achieve the desired spectral bandwidth and photons generation rate. The result is a zero-maintenance, lightweight, low-power consumption engine of compact and fully-integrable bright polarization-entangled photon sources.

摘要: A miniaturized PPKTP crystal-based entanglement source system using multi-mode reception is provided, which includes a pump light source, a pump light transmission module, an entanglement device, a first collection device, and a second collection device. In the entanglement source system, entangled lights are received by using multi-mode optical fibers, and an entangled light processing scheme of combining a temporal filtering technology and a spatial filtering technology is applied into a collecting device at one side of the entanglement source system, to form asymmetric device structures in the entanglement source system, to enable multi-mode reception.

摘要: A laser assembly generates continuous (CW) laser output light in the range of approximately 181 nm to approximately 185 nm by generating fourth harmonic light from first fundamental CW light having a first fundamental wavelength between 1 μm and 1.1 μm, generating fifth harmonic light by mixing the fourth harmonic light with the first fundamental CW light, and then mixing the fifth harmonic light with second fundamental or signal CW light having a second wavelength between 1.26 μm and 1.82 μm. The fifth harmonic light is generated using an external cavity that circulates first fundamental CW light through a first nonlinear crystal, and by directing the fourth harmonic light through the first nonlinear crystal. The laser output light is generated using a second cavity that passes circulated second fundamental or signal CW light through a second nonlinear crystal, and directing the fifth harmonic light through the second nonlinear crystal.

摘要: A method of forming a layered OP material is provided, where the layered OP material comprises an OPGaAs template, and a layer of GaP on the OPGaAs template. The OPGaAs template comprises a patterned layer of GaAs having alternating features of inverted crystallographic polarity of GaAs. The patterned layer of GaAs comprises a first feature comprising a first crystallographic polarity form of GaAs having a first dimension, and a second feature comprising a second crystallographic polarity form of GaAs having a second dimension. The layer of GaP on the patterned layer of GaAs comprises alternating regions of inverted crystallographic polarity that generally correspond to their underlying first and second features of the patterned layer of GaAs. Additionally, each of the alternating regions of inverted crystallographic polarity of GaP are present at about 100 micron thickness or more.

When using a material with a wide gain band as a laser medium 121 of a solid-state laser element 12, a waveguide laser is implemented capable of carrying out high-efficiency wavelength conversion at a plurality of wavelengths within the gain band.

摘要: A method and system for beam shaping employing a non-collinear quasi phase-matched interaction in a crystal whose nonlinear coefficient was encoded by a computer generated hologram is provided herein. The same axis is used for both satisfying the phase-matching requirements and encoding the holographic information. This allows one-dimensional beam shaping using a very simple to fabricate nonlinear crystal pattern and two-dimensional beam shaping with high conversion efficiency. Both are demonstrated by converting a fundamental Gaussian beam into Hermite-Gaussian and Laguerre-Gaussian beams at the second harmonic in KTiOPO4 and stoichiometric lithium tantalate. The suggested scheme enables broad wavelength tuning by simply tilting the crystal.
