Abstract: A power tool includes an outer housing having a drive unit support portion and a handle portion, an inner housing positioned at least partially within the handle, and a drive unit positioned in the drive unit support portion. The drive unit includes an output shaft extending at least partially through the handle portion. The power tool also includes a ball screw mechanism having a nut supported at least partially within the inner housing and a screw coupled to the nut for relative axial displacement therewith in response to relative rotation between the screw and the nut. Torque from the output shaft is applied to one of the nut and the screw to cause the relative rotation. The handle portion exerts a reaction torque on the inner housing in response to the relative rotation between the nut and screw to prevent the inner housing from rotating relative to the outer housing.

Abstract: A power tool having a housing, a motor, a tool holder driven about an output axis by the motor, and an output element for performing an operation on a workpiece. The tool holder has a locating feature including a tapered portion becoming narrower in a direction away from the surface of the tool holder. The output element has an aperture for receiving the locating feature and a face facing the surface of the tool holder when the locating feature is received. The power tool also includes a flange for transferring a clamping force for urging the output element towards the tool holder and a tab projecting from the flange for finger tightening the flange. A biasing member provides the clamping force toollessly. A gap is defined between the surface of the tool holder and the face when the tapered portion of the locating feature is fully received in the aperture.

Abstract: A battery retention system for a power tool having a motor, a drive mechanism coupled to the motor, an output element coupled to the drive mechanism, and latch-receiving recesses for receiving battery pack latches. The battery retention system includes a battery pack for powering the motor. The battery pack is removably coupled to the power tool and includes latches and elongated rails. The system includes a cavity in the power tool for receiving the battery pack in a direction of insertion. Spring arms extend generally in the direction of insertion and each have a projection extending into the cavity for coupling the battery pack to the power tool. The spring arms are configured to deform in engagement with the respective rails of the battery pack when the battery pack is inserted into the cavity. The rails are elongated generally in the direction of insertion.

Abstract: An air compressor includes a compressor assembly with a motor and a pump driven by the motor, a battery receptacle, and a battery pack electrically connected to the motor via the battery receptacle for providing electrical power to the motor. The battery receptacle and the battery pack are positioned adjacent the compressor assembly. The compressor also includes a storage tank that receives compressed air from the pump, a case enshrouding the compressor assembly, an outlet port in fluid communication with the storage tank, and an adjustable pressure regulator at least partially positioned within the case. The outlet port configured to discharge compressed air from the storage tank at a regulated pressure determined by the pressure regulator. The compressor further includes an adjustment knob to adjust the regulated pressure of compressed air provided by the outlet port. The case attenuates noise emitted by the compressor assembly to less than 68 decibels.

Abstract: A powered ratchet tool includes a housing and an output member. The output member has an inner opening, an outer toothed surface, and an output member aperture extending through the outer toothed surface to the inner opening. The powered ratchet tool further includes a drive mechanism for driving the output member. The drive mechanism includes a yoke in which the output member is arranged. The yoke has a yoke aperture. When the output member is in a home position, the first pawl and the second pawl are engaged with the toothed surface of the output member and the output member aperture is aligned with the yoke aperture.
