Techniques are described herein in which the protocols of a source system can be utilized with an interworking unit to tunnel signaling messages which are in a format understood by a target network.

摘要： An apparatus and method for establishing a connection including reserving a common connection for use by more than one access terminal (AT); associating the common connection with a network identifier corresponding to the AT; deleting a network identifier-related context while maintaining the network identifier; and transmitting a message, based on a call to the AT, via the common connection and based on the network identifier, wherein a specific connection for carrying the call is based on a response to the message. In one example, the apparatus and method include conducting a registration session with a wireless communications network; obtaining a network identifier corresponding to the AT based on the registration session; deleting a network identifier-related context for the AT while maintaining the network identifier; receiving a message indicating a call destined for the AT; and establishing, based on the message, a specific connection for carrying the call.

摘要： An apparatus and method for determining an authorized IP service for an access terminal during an establishment of a PPP connection. In an aspect of the disclosure, a data link is established with the access terminal, and a request to authenticate the access terminal is provided to an authentication/authorization server. During authentication, an IP Service Authorized Parameter is provided by the authentication/authorization server, the IP Service Authorized Parameter for indicating the authorized IP service for the access terminal. Thereby, a network layer protocol and a mobility protocol are each configured according to the authorized IP service that corresponds to the IP Service Authorized Parameter.

An example method comprises receiving from the mobile device a request to add a second IP interface type to a current communication session associated with a first IP interface type, wherein the second IP interface type is different from the first IP interface type. The method further includes receiving from the home network a set of IP addresses of the second IP interface type and establishing one or more IP flows of the second IP interface type using one or more received IP addresses. The method further includes associating the one or more IP flows of the second IP interface type with the current communication session for the mobile device.

摘要： Techniques for IP flow mobility in a wireless data communications system, which allow for selective movement of IP data flows between different access networks supporting different access technology types. An access terminal (AT) is configured to selectively communicate using plural access technologies. Plural IP data flows are established between the AT and a first access network using a first technology type. A flow mobility trigger condition is detected, and in response, at least one IP data flow is moved to a second access network using a second technology, while maintaining at least another of the data flows to the first access network, and using the same IP address for the AT for data flows handled by both access networks, by using a mapping function between packet-filters for data flows and the access technology. The techniques may be used in conjunction with IP mobility protocols such as PMIP and CMIP.

摘要： Transfer of Multimedia Broadcast/Multicast Services (MBMS) over a Single Frequency Network (MBSFN) service and idle mode unicast service for a mobile entity from a source base station to a target base station may be managed by a base station or mobile entity of a cellular wireless communications system (WCS). Operations related to the transfer may include obtaining an MBMS status of the mobile entity, and/or obtaining MBMS support information for the base station. A network entity may facilitate MBMS discovery by a mobile entity, by transmitting a data element to the mobile entity including service identifiers mapped to corresponding cell identifiers to indicate respective MBMS services to be broadcast in an WCS area on adjacent cells identified by respective ones of the cell identifiers. The MBMS services may be broadcast within the WCS area using the adjacent cells previously indicated in the data element.
