摘要: A method of forming color proof images of inks on a printing stock prior to a production or press run, comprising the steps of providing a receiver having a peelable substrate, such receiver including a layer having a mordant in a binder formed over the substrate which will form a bond with colorant in the ink and an ink-receiving layer formed over the mordant layer which is permeable to ink, but which restricts spreading of ink as it passes through such layer to the mordant layer; depositing ink having colorants onto the ink-receiving layer to form a color proof image in the mordant layer; and laminating the receiver to a printing stock and removing the peelable substrate from the receiver to form the color proof.

摘要: Cleaning apparatus for cleaning debris from orifices in an ink jet print head orifice plate includes a structure defining a cleaning cavity for receiving cleaning liquid; a roller partially submerged in the cleaning liquid. The roller is rotated so that cleaning liquid coats the roller and is carried by surface tension around the roller; and relative movement is provided between the orifice plate and the structure so that the orifice plate is positioned adjacent to the cleaning cavity with the rotating roller spaced a distance from the orifice plate so that there is turbulence of the cleaning liquid and such turbulence causes the cleaning fluid to engage the orifice plate and remove debris from the orifice plate and orifice nozzles.

摘要: A graphic arts printing apparatus includes a delivery channel for hydrophobic liquid; a source of pressurized hydrophobic liquid communicating with the delivery channel; a nozzle bore which opens into the delivery channel to establish a continuous flow of hydrophobic liquid in a stream; and a droplet generator which causes the stream to break up into a plurality of droplets at a position spaced from the stream generator. The droplet generator includes a heater having a selectively-actuated section associated with only a portion of the nozzle bore perimeter, whereby actuation of the heater section produces an asymmetric application of heat to the stream to control the direction of the stream between a print direction and a non-print direction.
