    Abstract: A communication system is disclosed, in which a mobile telephone has a control-plane connection to a first base station and communicates user data using at least one communication bearer provided via a second base station. The base stations are configured to exchange information relating to the data rate required for the mobile telephone via the second base station. The first base station derives, based on the exchanged information, an aggregated maximum bit rate (AMBR) parameter specific to the second base station and provides the derived AMBR parameter to the second base station for use in data rate enforcement for the mobile telephone's communications via the second base station.

    Abstract: A communication system is described in which a communication apparatus configured provides a first communication path to a user communication device to using a first radio resource and another communication apparatus provides a second communication path to the user communication device to using a second radio resource, different from the first radio resource.     Abstract: A communication system is disclosed in which a base station operates a cell in a region where connection attempts by a communication device to that cell are at risk of failure. The communication device selects the cell when in the region and attempts to initiate a connection with the base station via the cell. The communication device identifies consecutive failures in respective attempts to initiate the connection, and reports the occurrence of consecutive failures to the communication system at a reporting opportunity.

    Abstract: A communication system is disclosed in which a user equipment (UE) receives an indication that a change of tracking area identifiers has occurred with respect to a current cell of the UE. The UE determines whether to obtain a tracking area identifier list associated with the cell based on the indication and at least one of: information identifying whether the cell is configurable to associate with a plurality of tracking areas (e.g. when the cell employs soft tracking area change); a mobility parameter associated with the UE; and a time parameter indicating a time elapsed since the UE obtained the tracking area identifier list from system information signalling or since the UE reselected to the cell.
