Abstract:
Resource allocation for direct terminal-to-terminal communication in a cellular system. There are provided measures for resource allocation for direct terminal-to-terminal communication in a cellular system, said measures exemplarily comprising configuration of common resources for supporting direct communication between terminals across a predefined registration area comprising one or more cells of a cellular system, and control of an allocation of common resources for enabling direct communication between terminals across the predefined registration area. Said measures may exemplarily be applied for establishing terminal-to-terminal communication in LTE or LTE-Advanced cellular networks.
Abstract:
There is provided a method comprising receiving, at a user device, control information usable for determining whether at least one uplink logical channel is to be transmitted using at least one of a first uplink transport channel and a second uplink transport channel, determining, in dependence on said information, a mapping between the at least one uplink logical channel and at least one of the first uplink transport channel and second uplink transport channel and causing the at least one uplink logical channel to be transmitted using the at least one uplink transport channel to which the at least one uplink logical channel is mapped.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus can be configured to update status information on channel resources. The channel resources are configured for device-to-device communication by a cluster-wise manner. The method can also include transmitting the status information by using broadcasting resources.
Abstract:
There is provided a method comprising: determining, by a first network node of a cellular communication network, that a transfer of a data block to a second network node of the cellular communication network needs a retransmission; determining whether at least one criterion for a size and/or latency requirements of said data block is met; and as a response to determining that the at least one criterion is met, performing the retransmission according to a first set of rules, otherwise performing the retransmission according to a second set of rules.
Abstract:
There is provided a method, including: receiving, by a target base station, information that a handover of a plurality of user equipment currently connected to a source cell is needed to a target cell; causing a device-to-device, D2D, cluster generation, wherein each generated D2D cluster is controlled by a predetermined user equipment connected to the target cell and acting as a D2D cluster head; determining D2D cluster-specific radio resource commitment information for each generated D2D cluster; indicating corresponding D2D cluster-specific radio resource commitment information to each D2D cluster head; and receiving a handover request from at least one D2D cluster head, wherein the handover request is for handing at least one member of the corresponding D2D cluster over to the target cell.
Abstract:
Handling of related identities may be valuable in communication systems. More particularly, in areas such as long term evolution advanced (LTE-A) proximity services (ProSe), it may be useful to provide for handling of ProSe device to device (D2D) related identities at the radio access network (RAN) level. A method can include deriving an initial layer one identifier corresponding to a target user equipment or group. The method can also include determining whether the initial layer one identifier collides with another layer one identifier corresponding to a different target user equipment or group. The method can further include communicating with the target user equipment or group based on the determination of whether the initial layer one identifier collides with another layer one identifier in use.
Abstract:
There is provided an improved solution for performing beacon broadcasting in a device-to-device communication network. The solution comprises selecting, by a node capable of entering a device-to-device communication network, a channel for broadcasting wherein the selection is based on at least one of the following: the characteristics of the node and the state of the node; and causing a broadcast of information related to at least part of the properties of the node on the selected channel.

Abstract:
Methods, apparatuses, and computer program products for network assisted ProSe discovery management are provided. One method includes establishing, by a network element, a discovery context of a user equipment, and transmitting a discovery context establishment request comprising beacon information on at least one other user that a user of the user equipment is interested in discovering.
Abstract:
Apparatus and method for communication are provided. The solution includes obtaining information of handovers to be performed regarding more than one user equipment connected to the apparatus; requesting the user equipment to form one or more device-to-device clusters; and controlling handovers to be performed utilising information on the formed device-to-device clusters.
