摘要: A method and apparatus are provided for determining the quality of a speech transmission, including temporal clipping, delay and jitter, using a carefully constructed test signal (300) and digital signal processing techniques. The test signal that is to be transmitted through a speech transmission system (100) is created (700). Then the test signal is transmitted through the speech transmission system such that the speech transmission system creates an output signal that corresponds to the input signal, as modified by the speech transmission system (702). The test signal includes multiple segments (500) of speech signals interleaved with periods of silence. The periods of silence vary in duration according to a predefined pattern. Each segment of speech signals includes multiple predefined speech samples or symbols (400, 402, 404, 406, 408, 410, 412, 414) interleaved with a plurality of silence gaps. The speech samples have a common period of duration, but the silence gaps do not. The output signal from the speech transmission system is preferably recorded (704) and analyzed to determine its quality, including temporal clipping (706). This analysis preferably includes comparing the output signal with a reference signal derived from the test signal using a cross correlation function. A processor (114) coupled to memory (116) records and analyzes the output signal.

摘要: Noise Reduction (NR) is performed directly in a coded domain. A Coded Domain Noise Reduction (CD-NR) system modifies at least one parameter of a first encoded signal, resulting in corresponding modified parameter(s). The CD-NR system replaces the parameter(s) of the first encoded signal with the modified parameter(s), resulting in a second encoded signal which, in a decoded state, approximates a target signal that is a function of the first encoded signal in at least a partially decoded state. Thus, the first encoded signal does not have to go through intermediate decode/re-encode processes, which can degrade overall speech quality. Computational resources required for a complete re-encoding are not needed. Overall delay of the system is minimized. The CD-NR system can be used in any network in which signals are communicated in a coded domain, such as a Third Generation (3G) wireless network.

摘要: Disclosed is a method for implementing data backup and recovery in a computer hard disk. The method includes the following steps. First, a computer motherboard is powered up and BIOS is booted through triggering of hardware. At the same time, information about a computer bootstrap mode is stored in a recording device, the information representing a mode to start a conventional operating system or a mode to start a backup/recovery function. Then BIOS reads the information about the computer bootstrap mode from the recording device and determines which mode it represents. If the information represents a mode to start a conventional operating system, the computer is booted with a preinstalled conventional operating system. If the information represents a mode to start a backup/recovery function, BIOS operates the protection partition of a hard disk, loads the kernel of an inserted operating system and performs the backup/recovery processing. According to the invention, the data backup/recovery function can be started directly through triggering hardware, and the loaded inserted operating system can be dynamically updated, so it is more convenient and flexible in application.

摘要: A communications quality measurement system for use with packet and other networks comprises a test signal transmitter, a test signal receiver, and a test signal analyzer. A test transmitter is used to produce a series of test signals selected or engineered for measuring one or more desired Quality of Service or other performance parameters of a network path to be tested. A first copy of the test signal is transmitted via a reference path of known characteristics and with minimal impairments. A second copy of the test signal is transmitted via the network path to be tested. A test receiver receives and records the signals which were carried via the reference and test paths. A test signal analyzer compares the signals received over the reference and test paths and analyzes differences to determine Quality of Service or other parameters, such as Bearer Delay, Cell or Packet Loss, Echo Delay, and Echo Amplitude, some of which are directed to the particular impairments that are characteristic of packet networks. The test signal is preferably injected into and received from handset analog audio paths of originating and terminating subscriber terminals, so that the effects of nearly all network components will be measured.
