Abstract: A computer readable recording medium storing at least one program, wherein an image quality improvement method is performed when the program is executed. The image quality improvement method comprising: (a) classifying data units of a target image to normal data units and abnormal data units based on relations between brightness values of the data units and a classification parameter, wherein the classification parameter is related with an image quality of the target image or the brightness values of the data units; and (b) adjusting the brightness values of the abnormal data units based on an adjusting parameter to generate adjusted brightness values, such that differences between the adjusted brightness values and the brightness values of the normal data units are reduced. An optical navigation method using the image quality improvement method is also disclosed.

Abstract: There is provided an optical navigation device including an image sensor and a processing unit. The image sensor outputs successive image frames. The processing unit calculates a contamination level and a motion signal based on filtered image frames, and determines whether to update a fixed pattern noise (FPN) stored in a frame buffer according to a level of FPN subtraction, the calculated contamination level and the calculated motion signal to optimize the update of the fixed pattern noise.

Abstract: There is provided a navigation device including an image sensor, an analog to digital converter and a processor. The image sensor is used to output an analog image using an exposure time. The analog to digital converter is used to convert the analog image to a digital image using a resolution. The processor is used to identify an image quality of the digital image, and adjust at least one of the exposure time of the image sensor and the resolution of the analog to digital converter according to the image quality thereby adjusting the operation power by changing data length actually processed by the processor.

Abstract: An image sensing system control method, applied to an image sensing system comprising an image sensor and a control circuit. The method comprises: (a) defining a first reporting frame sensed at a first reporting frame time and a second reporting frame sensed at a second reporting frame time, wherein the image sensor reports motions computed according to the first reporting frame after the first reporting frame time, and reports motions computed according to the second reporting frame after the second reporting frame time; and (b) adjusting a first reporting time interval between the first reporting frame time and the second reporting frame time, to adjust the second reporting frame time to meet a second target time. The second reporting frame time is after the first reporting frame time.
