Abstract: A method for operating a braking device of a vehicle, including a main braking system, and a backup braking system. The braking device includes a main braking system control unit, and a backup braking system control unit. The method includes detecting an error of a brake function of the braking system, locating the error inside the braking device, classifying the error with regard to the corresponding brake function and the braking system, and transferring a brake function detected as erroneous for the main braking system to the backup braking system in the event that the error concerns solely the main braking system, so that the brake function may still be carried out with the aid of the backup braking system.

Abstract: A brake device for a vehicle. The brake device includes a controller, which is connected to a brake actuator device. The controller is configured to ascertain an operating state of an electric machine in generator mode and a second brake torque, which can be generated by the electric machine, and to operate the brake actuator device in generator mode as a function of the operating state. A specified total brake torque on the vehicle can be generated as the sum of the second brake torque and a first brake torque of the brake actuator device. The controller is configured to reduce or increase the generated first brake torque of the brake actuator device to maintain a specified value range of an operating parameter of the brake actuator device and/or to provide, together with the second brake torque, at least the specified total brake torque on the vehicle.

Abstract: A method for checking the availability of a hydraulic fallback level in a power brake system with electronic slip control, an electronic control device, and a power brake system with electronic slip control. In normal operation, power brake systems perform braking procedures without a driver participating in building up braking pressure. A requirement for braking is detected by an electronic control device and associated with a braking pressure which is set by electrical control of the drive of a primary pressure generator. Power brake systems are often equipped with a secondary pressure generator, connected with the wheel brakes, in parallel with the primary pressure generator, which can be used to perform the building up of pressure at a hydraulic fallback level. For safety reasons, the availability of the hydraulic fallback level is checked at particular time intervals during normal braking operation of the power brake system.

Abstract: A method for controlling a power brake system, for a motor vehicle engaged in piloted driving, which includes two electrically controllable actuator units. The first actuator unit includes a braking-intent detection device, and a first pressure generation unit for generating a brake pressure in a brake circuit. The second actuator unit includes a second pressure generation unit redundant to the first pressure generation unit. A first electronic control device acquires signals of the braking-intent detection device and controls the actuator unit based on the detected braking intent. In response to detected functional impairment, the first motor of the pressure generation unit ceases to be controlled, and the second motor of the pressure generation unit of the second actuator unit is controlled to generate brake pressure. Detection of a braking intent and wheel-specific modulation of the brake pressure, continue to be carried out, using devices of the first actuator unit.

Abstract: A method for operating a vehicle brake system including a brake booster and an electronic traction control device, which is used as a fallback level in a malfunction of the brake booster. The position of an accelerator pedal is ascertained when a malfunction of the brake booster is detected, and under the precondition that the accelerator pedal is released, a predefined initial pressure is built up in a pressure chamber of a master brake cylinder of the vehicle brake system with the aid of the traction control device so that a deceleration of the vehicle is induced. A control unit which is designed to carry out the method, and a vehicle having a vehicle brake system and a control unit, are also described.
