Abstract: The present disclosure relates to an electrically activatable actuating unit (106) for a motor vehicle brake system (1000), having a housing body (122) and an actuating member (124) arranged in a recess (150) of the housing body (122), wherein the actuating member (124) is coupleable to a brake pedal at a first end and coupleable to a motor vehicle brake (400) at a second, opposite end. The housing body (122) and the actuating member (124) are arranged to be displaceable in a braking direction to actuate the motor vehicle brake (400). The electrically activatable actuating unit (106) furthermore comprises a damping element (180, 180A, 180B), which is arranged in the recess (150) of the housing body (122) such that it abuts frictionally against an outer wall of the actuating member (124) by means of an inner circumferential face (184) and abuts frictionally against an inner wall (170) of the housing body (122) by means of an outer, opposite circumferential face (186), which inner wall delimits the recess (150).

Abstract: A method for operating a vehicle brake system including a brake booster and an electronic traction control device, which is used as a fallback level in a malfunction of the brake booster. The position of an accelerator pedal is ascertained when a malfunction of the brake booster is detected, and under the precondition that the accelerator pedal is released, a predefined initial pressure is built up in a pressure chamber of a master brake cylinder of the vehicle brake system with the aid of the traction control device so that a deceleration of the vehicle is induced. A control unit which is designed to carry out the method, and a vehicle having a vehicle brake system and a control unit, are also described.

Abstract: A system and method are provided for estimating and applying vehicle tire traction. Vehicle data (e.g., movement and location-based data) and tire sensor data are collected at a vehicle and transmitted to a remote computing system (e.g., cloud server). A wear status is determined, and traction characteristics determined for at least one tire, based at least on the vehicle data and the determined tire wear status. The predicted tire traction characteristics are transmitted from the remote computing system to an active safety unit associated with the vehicle, or a fleet management system, wherein the recipient is configured to modify vehicle operation settings based on at least the predicted tire traction characteristics. A maximum speed for the vehicle may be defined by the recipient, or a minimum following distance where, e.g., the vehicle is one of multiple vehicles in a defined platoon.

Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a brake control device and a brake system capable of braking with a shortened braking response when shifting from non-braking to braking. A brake control device 10 includes a command value calculation unit 4 that calculates an operation command value required to make a pressing force by which a brake pad 11a is pressed against a brake disc 11b reach a target thrust value. The command value calculation unit 4 includes: a clearance command calculation unit 43 that calculates a command value required for contact between the brake pad 11a and the brake disc 11b; and a thrust command calculation unit 40 that calculates a command value required for reaching the target thrust from a state where the brake pad 11a and the brake disc 11b are in contact with each other. When calculating the operation command value from a state where the brake pad 11a and the brake disc 11b are separated, the command value calculation unit 4 calculates the operation command value by integrating the command value calculated from the clearance command calculation unit 43 and the command value calculated from the thrust command calculation unit 40.

Abstract: A vehicle safety device (200) for preventing an unoccupied vehicle moving uncontrollably. The device comprises a control module (201) and a brake module (203). The device (200) is configured to detect when a driver leaves said vehicle. The device (200) is also configured to activate, through the brake module (203), a braking system when the device detects that said driver has left the vehicle. The device may improve the safety of a vehicle in which it is fitted. A system (300) comprising the device (200) and a vehicle (400) comprising the system (300) are also described. A method of preventing an unoccupied vehicle moving is also described. The device, system, vehicle and method are particularly useful for preventing accidents in large commercial vehicles caused by a driver leaving the vehicle without engaging a parking brake.
