Abstract:
A communications device includes a transmitter configured to transmit signals to one or more other communications devices via a wireless access interface, the one or more communications devices configured to perform device-to-device communications. A receiver is configured to receive signals from the one of the other communications devices via the wireless access interface, and a controller controls the transmitter and receiver to transmit or to receive the signals via the wireless access interface to transmit or to receive data represented by the signals. The wireless access interface provides a scheduling region including plural predetermined sections of communications resources, and plural sections of shared communications resources. Transmission of a scheduling assignment message in a section of the scheduling region informs other devices of a group that a communications device will transmit signals representing data in a corresponding section of the shared communications channel.
Abstract:
A communications system for device-to-device communications includes a group of plural communications devices, each configured to perform device-to-device communications via a wireless access interface with one or more other communications devices of the group. One of the communications devices is configured to detect interference in communications resources of the wireless access interface caused by signals transmitted by another communications device, and to provide, in response to detecting the interference, an indication of the interference to one or more of the communications device. By the communications device of the first group of communications devices detecting the interference and communicating an indication of the interference to the other members of the group, then members of the group can adapt the transmission and reception of data via the wireless access interface to avoid resources of the wireless access interface which is subject to interference.
Abstract:
A location server configured to determine a location of communications devices with respect to a location of infrastructure equipment of a wireless access network from observed time differences between receiving positioning reference signals transmitted by a plurality of the infrastructure equipment and received by the communications devices.
Abstract:
A mobile telecommunications system anchor base station for a mobile telecommunications system is described. The mobile telecommunications system has at least one anchor cell and at least one slave cell which is associated with the anchor cell. The anchor base station has a circuitry which is configured to transmit system information based on beam information.
Abstract:
A base station for transmitting system related information in a mobile telecommunications network. The base station is configured to transmit system information for the cell provided by the base station and to broadcast a version synchronisation signal, wherein the version synchronisation signal provides version information regarding the current version of the system information for the cell.
Abstract:
A method for use in a mobile communications network, the mobile communications network comprising a plurality of infrastructure equipment each providing wireless connectivity within at least one cell, and a communications device configured to communicate wirelessly with at least a first of the infrastructure equipment including by the use of a radio bearer, the method comprising the first infrastructure equipment determining that there is a requirement to alter data handling resources allocated for handling the radio bearer in one or both of the first infrastructure equipment and the communications device, re-establishing, in response to the determination, its radio link control protocol layer, transmitting a reconfiguration message to the communications device to effect re-establishment of its radio link control protocol layer, and subsequently effecting a change in the header of data packets transmitted to the communications device.
Abstract:
A communications device acting as a relay device is configured to communicate with communications devices operating with a mobile communications network and infrastructure equipment. The relay device comprises transmitter circuitry, receiver circuitry and controller circuitry. The controller circuitry is configured to determine whether predetermined conditions relating to the setting of an indication bit have been met, wherein the indication bit indicates whether the relay device is able to form new connections with one or more of the communications devices, to set the indication bit dependent on the determination of whether the predetermined conditions have been met. The relay device is not able to form new connections with one or more of the communications devices when the predetermined conditions are met, and to broadcast the indication bit.
Abstract:
A communications device can identify one or more sections of plural predetermined sections, divided into time-units, of shared communications resources of a wireless access interface for transmitting data signals to one or more other communications device. The communications device detects whether another of the one or more communications devices are transmitting signals in one or more of the identified sections of the shared communications resources in at least one time divided unit, and if signals transmitted by another of the communications devices are not detected, the device transmits signals in the identified one or more predetermined sections of the shared communications resources for at least one of the time divided units, and then, after a collision avoidance time, detects for at least one subsequent time unit whether another of the one or more communications devices transmits signals in one or more of the identified sections of the shared communications resources.
Abstract:
The present technique provides a first terminal device for exchanging signals with a wireless telecommunications network and a plurality of second terminal devices, the first terminal device configured to exchange signals with each of the plurality of second terminal devices, when the first terminal device provides a local cell for providing wireless connectivity for the plurality of second terminal devices, and to exchange signals with one or more infrastructure equipment of the wireless telecommunications network, and receive, from each of the plurality of second terminal devices served by the first terminal device when providing the local cell, suitability information indicative of the suitability of each of one or more other terminal devices or infrastructure equipment of the wireless telecommunications network to exchange signals with that second terminal device to provide for that second terminal devices another local cell.
Abstract:
A method of operating a network access node in a wireless telecommunications system comprising the network access node and a terminal device, wherein the method comprises: establishing that a downlink message, e.g. a paging message, for the terminal device to decode is going to be transmitted by the network access node; and transmitting wake-up signalling to the terminal device in advance of transmitting the downlink message to provide the terminal device with an indication the downlink message for the terminal device is going to be transmitted, wherein the wake-up signalling comprises an indication of an amount of synchronisation signalling for use by the terminal device to achieve radio synchronisation with the network access node, wherein the amount of synchronisation signalling depends on an amount of time elapsed since the terminal device was previously radio synchronised to the network access node.
