Abstract: A method of performing a security mode control procedure by a user equipment (UE), and an apparatus therefor are disclosed. The method includes performing, over a 3rd generation partnership project (3GPP) access, a first authentication procedure and a first key agreement procedure with an access and mobility management function (AMF), wherein a key set identifier (ngKSI) is changed during the first authentication procedure and the first key agreement procedure, receiving, from the AMF over the 3GPP access, a first security mode command message including the ngKSI, and receiving, from the AMF over a non-3GPP access, a second security mode command message including the ngKSI, wherein the UE is registered to the AMF and a same public land mobile network (PLMN) over both the 3GPP access and the non-3GPP access.

According to various embodiments of the present disclosure, an operating method of a core network entity in a wireless communication system, may include obtaining identification information of a private network from a registration request message obtained from a user equipment, selecting an authentication server function (AUSF) which supports authentication for the UE, based on the identification information of the private network, in response to performing an authentication procedure for the AUSF and the UE, selecting unified data management (UDM) for managing subscription information and registration information of the UE, obtaining the subscription information of the UE for the private network from the UDM, performing validity check of the UE for the private network, based on the subscription information of the UE, and registering the UE at the private network, based on results of the authentication procedure and the validity check.

The operating method includes receiving a first parameter for clock synchronization from a base station, and performing the clock synchronization with a neighboring network system using the received first parameter and a second parameter. The first parameter may include information relating to a link delay time between the neighboring network system and a network system comprising the UPF, and a residence time of a terminal, a base station and the UPF of the network system comprising the UPF, and the second parameter may include information relating to a backhaul delay time between the base station and the UPF.
