    摘要: The present invention provides a liquid-crystal display device in which a pixel defect does not occur even when an electrode becomes disconnected. The liquid-crystal display device according to the present invention comprises a liquid crystal layer and a pair of substrates between which the liquid crystal layer is interposed. At least one of the pair of substrates includes an electrode that applies a voltage to the liquid crystal layer. The electrode that applies the voltage to the liquid crystal layer includes two or more linear portions. The substrate comprising the electrode that applies the voltage to the liquid crystal layer, from among the pair of substrates, includes a floating electrode that overlaps at least two of the two or more linear portions via an insulating film.

    摘要: Disclosed is an MVA type liquid crystal display device (LCD 100A) forming four domains in which liquid crystal molecules fall in different directions that are about 90° apart. The MVA type liquid crystal display device includes a plurality of pixels arranged in a matrix of rows and columns, which pixels are horizontally long pixels having longer sides extending in the row direction. Each pixel includes two first electrodes (21a and 21b) arranged side by side along the row direction. Preferably, at least one of the two first electrodes (21a and 21b) has a first corner section including a first edge that is parallel to the row direction and a second edge that is parallel to the column direction, and the first substrate further includes an electrode layer (16c) overlapping at least a portion of the first edge or the second edge of the first corner section. According to the present invention, display quality deterioration caused by disturbed alignment of liquid crystal molecules occurring near the edges of the pixel electrodes can be suppressed.

    摘要: The present invention provides a liquid crystal display device with excellent display performance which has a high pixel aperture design and can avoid alignment disorder of liquid crystal molecules and improve image roughness. The liquid crystal display device of the present invention includes: a liquid crystal layer between a thin film transistor array substrate and an opposed substrate; and at least one electrode for applying a voltage to the liquid crystal layer. The thin film transistor array substrate includes: a transparent substrate; source lines and gate lines running in longitudinal and transverse directions, respectively, on a main surface of the transparent substrate; a conductive portion in a pixel defined by the source lines and the gate lines; and an insulating film covering the conductive part, and is provided with a contact hole electrically connecting an electrode on the thin film transistor array substrate among the at least one electrode and the conductive part through the insulating film. The opposed substrate comprising a protrusion extending from one end to an other end of the pixel. The at least one electrode is provided with at least one slit between the contact hole and a boundary of the pixel as viewed from a direction of a normal to surfaces of the substrate.

When a value obtained by dividing the length of a display screen in a row direction by the number of pixels in the row direction is a length corresponding to one pixel in the row direction, one period of color arrangement in the row direction is a length corresponding to two pixels. One such period of color arrangement includes two groups of subpixels that include first subpixels of the light's three primary colors of red (R), green (G) and blue (B), that are arranged in a row and that have the same subpixel configuration; and at least one additional subpixel. Scanning lines extending in the row direction and signal lines extending in the column direction are connected to the first subpixels and the at least one additional subpixel.
