    摘要: A disc drive apparatus is provided which determines a recording medium enabling type and recordability for various types of discs. The discs are housed in a cartridge and each cartridge has at least a first and second detection hole formed therein. The second detection hole (H1) is variably opened and closed by an opening/closing device, and the first detection hole (H0) is in an open state at all times. The disc drive apparatus determines the disc type using a light signal reflected from the loaded recording medium. The disc drive apparatus also determines disc determining parameters (for example, recordability of a disc) based on information received about the disc type and the open/closed state of one or more detection holes formed in the cartridge.

A magnetic disk producing method produces a magnetic disk having a central hole, an outer radius, a plurality of annular recording tracks formed in a direction from the central hole toward the outer radius, each recording track including a plurality of sectors, and a recess formed between adjacent recording tracks to a predetermined depth. The method includes providing a magnetizing master disk magnetized in a predetermined pattern of alternating N and S polarities extending in a direction from a center of the master disk toward an outer radius thereof; and superposing the master disk on the magnetic disk to magnetically transcribe a magnetic signal to the recording tracks based on the predetermined pattern.

    摘要: A control circuit (20) of a mass flow control device (1) retains the relation (Cd=f(ReTH)) between the Reynolds number and the actual discharge coefficient of a sonic nozzle (13) in the area where the Reynolds number is small. In such an area, the sonic nozzle can be used as a variable mass flow element for controlling mass flow rate. If a pressure Pu and a temperature Tu of an upstream fluid of the sonic nozzle 13 are detected, the theoretical mass flow rate QmTH and the theoretical Reynolds number ReTH can be calculated; since the actual discharge coefficient Cd can be calculated by the above relationship Cd=f(ReTH) based on the calculated Reynolds number, the actual mass flow rate Qm can be calculated based on the relation of Qm=Cd.multidot.QmTH. In the control circuit 20, in order to obtain the predetermined mass flow rate Qm, the upstream fluid pressure Pu and temperature Tu of the sonic nozzle are obtained based on the above relationship, and a variable valve (12) is driven so that the mass flow rate may have this value. There is provided an information recording apparatus for recording address information/ID information to an address information/ID information area of a magnetic disk having formed, in a direction from the central hole toward the outer radius, a plurality of circular recording tracks each including a plurality of sectors each including at least a data area where data is to be recorded, unique area where no data is to be recorded, clock area where a clock signal for detection of a phase signal is to be recorded, servo area where a servo signal is to be recorded and an address information/ID information area where address information/ID information is to be recorded, the data area, clock area, servo area and address information/ID information area being formed convex and each recording track having a fixed-period control signal recorded therein, the apparatus including: a detector for detecting a unique area; a reader for reading the fixed-period control signal recorded in the clock area; an information generator for generating unique address information/ID information; and a recorder for recording, when the detector has detected a unique area, the unique address information/ID information generated by the information generator to an address information/ID information area in a sector to which the detected unique area also belongs on the basis of the control signal read by the reader.

    摘要: A frequency demodulating circuit, optical disk and preformatting device having a decoder for decoding a bit “0” and a bit “1” for reproducing address information recorded as a wobble groove. The decoder determines whether an output is a digital “1” or a digital “0” so that even if the waveform of the reproduced signal is erratic or unstable due to a defect, a digital “1” or a digital “0” can be correctly identified by utilizing window pulses. Changes in the slop of a zero cross point of the groove wobble are prevented from occurring by making the groove wobble amplitude fluctuate according to the signal frequency modulation which also greatly reduces jitter and allowing satisfactory acquisition of the address information. Oversampling clock signals of biphase bits are generated by frequency division of data clock signals. Since demodulation is accomplished with a single phase lock loop circuit in the data system using clock signals for both the data and the addresses, the configuration can be made extremely simple. By means of polarity of the playback signal mark having phase information, it is determined whether the beam that scans the optical disk is above the land or above the groove. The marks containing phase information are formed on the base disk surface solely by the on and off control of the paired cutting beams with respect to the direction of the time axis, for easy preformatting of a mark to permit acquiring (phase) position information with high precision.
