摘要: The metal fine particles 33 are sparsely fixed on the surface of the transparent substrate 32, and the acceptor 35 for attaching the specific ligand is immobilized on the transparent substrate 32 or the metal fine particles 33. The prism 36 is closely attached to the lower surface of the transparent substrate 32, and the excitation light enters the transparent substrate 32 through the prism 36. The incident light is totally reflected at the surface of the transparent substrate 32, and the evanescent light generated at the surface and the metal fine particles 33 locally plasmon resonate. As the evanescent light and the metal fine particles locally plasmon resonate, a strong electric field is enclosed in the vicinity of the metal fine particles. When the surface arranged with the metal fine particles 33 and the acceptor 35 is contacted to the analysis sample solution containing ligand modified with light emitting molecules, only the light emitting molecule modifying a specific ligand attached to the acceptor emits light.

摘要: A liquid crystal display has a light guide plate having a light-emitting plane on its one end surface, a light source arranged on a side surface of the light guide plate, and a liquid crystal panel arranged opposite the light-emitting plane of the light guide plate. Deflection patterns are formed on a surface opposite the light-emitting plane of the light guide plate, and the deflection patterns are arranged so that two independent components on the surface opposite the light-emitting plane of the light guide plate are random. In a certain region on the surface opposite the light-emitting plane, when an average value of the number of the deflection patterns included in each region opposite each pixel of the liquid crystal panel is designated by μn and a standard deviation is designated by σn, their ratio satisfies the relationship: 0

摘要: The light emitted from a spot light source (45) is emitted at a linearly extending region by a wedge-like light conductor (47) and deflected by a prism sheet (50). This light is emitted in a direction perpendicular to a light incident surface (44a) of the light conductor plate (44) and has a directivity narrow in a widthwise direction of the light conductor plate (44). The light conductor plate (44) is formed, at its bottom surface, with a multiplicity of diffusion patterns (46) in a rectangular triangular form. The light reflected upon the diffusion pattern (46) is emitted perpendicularly to a light emitting surface (44b) of the light conductor plate (44). At this time, part of the light incident on the diffusion pattern (46) transmits through the diffusion pattern (46) whereby the directivity of emission light is narrowed in a lengthwise direction of the light conductor plate.

摘要: Unit reflection areas (13) each consisting of one or plural recesses and projections (17) are formed on the surface of a reflection plate (11). Light incident into the reflection plate (11) and reflected by respective unit reflection areas (13) is emitted to the entire specified plane area (emission area (14)) established on a specified plane, which is like a band: ring. The emission area (14) is established so that overlap thereof with a shining area of light regularly reflected by a liquid crystal panel (18) is made slight. With such a construction, in a reflection plate that is used for a reflection type or semi-transmission type display device, light that is reflected in useless directions, is reduced, and light utilization efficiency of incident light-can be increased.

摘要: The moisture-absorbent/releasable heat-generating intermediate material of the present invention is inserted between an outer material and a lining, both having a moisture-permeable/waterproof property, a windproof property and other desired properties, thereby constituting a heat-retaining article. It comprises a blend of a heat-retaining fiber including an air layer of not less than 50 ml per 1 gram and a moisture-absorbent/releasable heat-generating fiber. The moisture-absorbent/releasable heat-generating fiber generates heat by absorbing moisture in a vapor phase or in a liquid phase discharged from a human body and an immobile air layer formed by the heat-retaining fiber retains the heat.

摘要: In a surface light source device using a so-called point light source, the luminance distribution is made uniform, and the luminance thereof is increased. The direction of each of a plurality of diffuse pattern elements 24a constituting a diffuse pattern 24 formed on the lower surface of an optical waveguide plate 22 (a direction along the length) is at an angle of approximately 90.degree. to a direction along the line connecting the diffuse pattern element 24a and a point light source 30. The density .rho. of the diffuse pattern elements is approximately zero in the vicinity of the point light source 30, while linearly increasing as the distance from the point light source 30 increases.

摘要: An image display device is so adapted as to eliminate both largest and next largest noise components. The image display device includes an image display body having a plurality of pixels arranged periodically in two dimensions and an optical low-pass filter placed on or above the front surface of the image display body. One of two cut-off spatial frequencies in at least one direction of the optical low-pass filter is set within a range of values greater than 1/4 and less than 3/4 of a specific sampling frequency (that having the second lowest frequency) among sampling frequencies determined by the pixel arrangement of the image display body, and the other of the two cut-off spatial frequencies is set within a range of values greater than 3/4 and less than 5/4 of the specific sampling frequency, where the specific sampling frequency is taken as being 1.
