摘要: This invention relates to a belt driven continuously variable transmission having a pressure regulating cam mechanism giving an axial force corresponding to the transmission torque to a pulley and preventing too much belt pressing force. A retainer is fixed on a boss section of a stationary sheave and a spring made of multiple disc springs is situated on the outer surface of a boss section of a movable sheave for contact the retainer. A spring apparatus is composed of the retainer and the spring. Accordingly, at the decelerating range with large shifting ratio, besides the axial force made by the pressure regulating cam mechanism, the spring apparatus generates pressing force by contacting the retainer and maintains the belt holding force. When the shifting ratio is small, the spring returns to its natural length and disengages from the retainer.

摘要: A continuously variable speed transmission having a belt drive continuously variable speed transmission in which a belt is wrapped around primary and secondary pulleys each supported on a shaft and each consisting of a pair of sheaves capable of relatively moving axially, and a forward/reverse rotation changeover mechanism. The belt drive continuously variable speed transmission is provided with a pressure adjusting cam mechanism for applying an axial force corresponding to a transmitted torque to at least one of the pulleys, ball screw mechanisms for axially moving the movable sheaves of the pulleys. A fluid torque converter is disposed on the transmission upstream side of the primary pulley. In the belt drive continuously variable speed transmission, the pressure adjusting cam mechanism produces and axial force corresponding to the transmitted torque to clamp the belt, and the power is transmitted by the effect of this clamping force without belt slip. If at the time of vehicle starting the torque of the fluid torque converter is increased, the pressure adjusting cam mechanism produces a larger axial force corresponding to the increased torque, thereby clamping the belt by a larger force to prevent the belt from slipping during transmission of power. This large belt clamping force is produced for only a short time for vehicle starting. As the torque of the fluid torque converter is reduced to a coupling range, the axial force produced by the pressure adjusting cam mechanism is correspondingly reduced automatically. The belt is clamped by a reduced axial force for a greater part of the operating time.

摘要: A starting device for an automatic transmission for a vehicle includes a hydraulic coupling disposed between the output shaft of the engine and the input shaft of the automatic transmission. A lock-up clutch connects the output shafts of the engine and the output side of the hydraulic coupling, the output side of the hydraulic coupling being connected to the input shaft of the automatic transmission. A slip clutch is connected in series with the lock-up clutch, is disposed between the output shaft of the engine and the output side of the hydraulic coupling, and includes a plurality of friction plates and a biasing device for applying a predetermined biasing force to the plurality of friction plates to urge the friction plates together. Additionally, a cam mechanism is disposed in the power transmission path with the slip clutch at the output side of the hydraulic coupling, for generating an axial force proportional to the amount of torque transmitted through the power transmission path and for applying the torque to the plurality of friction plates of the slip clutch so that the slip clutch has a torque capacity proportional to the applied torque.

摘要: Pulleys are provided with load cam mechanisms which exert axial forces corresponding to transmitted torque, and actuator means such as ball screw mechanisms which shift the movable sheaves of both pulleys in axial direction, wherein the axial forces occuring at the pulleys are carried by their shafts and do not act on the housing. A counter shaft is located between the primary and secondary shafts, the countershaft being rotated to drive the actuator means through gearing such as gearwheels, to alter the drive ratio. During power transmission, the axial forces acting on the movable sheaves of primary and secondary pulleys are converted into torque by the actuator means, where the torques are transmitted to the counter shaft in the form of counteracting torques, so that alteration of drive ratio can be made with slight effort on the counter shaft, equivalent ot the difference between the counteracting torques.By using a non-uniform cam mechanism for the actuator means, or by using non-circular gearwheels for the gearing, the displacements of the movable sheaves are matched with their proper displacements determined by the belt.

摘要: A stepless automatic transmission for a motor vehicle includes a V-belt type stepless transmission mechanism having input and output pulleys mounted respectively on input and output shafts, each pulley being provided with a hydraulic servo for varying the effective diameter thereof, and a V-belt linking the input and output pulleys to transmit power therebetween, in combination with a forward/reverse change-over mechanism and a coupler such as a fluid coupling, centrifugal clutch or friction clutch, and a hydraulic control system. The hydraulic control system includes a primary regulator valve for generating a primary line pressure by regulating pressurized oil from a pressure source responsive to one or more operating conditions of a vehicle such as vehicle speed and/or throttle opening and a secondary regulator valve for generating a secondary line pressure at a lower level than said primary line pressure by regulating pressurized oil from a pressure source responsive to one or more operating conditions of the vehicle. The V-belt type stepless transmission is characterized by input and output pulley hydraulic servos with substantially equal effective pressure receiving areas. The hydraulic control system is arranged to control the hydraulic servo of the input pulley by either supplying primary line pressure or by bleeding pressure therefrom and includes a shift sequence mechanism adapted to supply the secondary line pressure to the hydraulic servo of the output pulley when the hydraulic servo of the input pulley is supplied with fluid pressure higher than a preset value in normal and upshift operations of the vehicle, and to supply the primary line pressure to the hydraulic servo of the output pulley when the hydraulic servo of the input pulley is supplied with oil pressure lower than a preset value in downshifting the vehicle.

摘要: A pressure regulating device for use in a hydraulic control system for an automatic transmission having a torque convertor, a gear transmission and an hydraulic control system provides a first pressure regulating valve for regulating the pressurized fluid output from a pump to a line pressure level, and applying the line pressure to the hydraulic control system. A second pressure regulating valve regulates the pressure of an excess portion of fluid supplied to the hydraulic control system from the first pressure regulating valve, and supplies the excess fluid to the torque convertor and regions requiring lubrication. Overheating of fluid in the torque convertor is prevented at low pressures by a bypass passage which assures at least a minimum fluid flow through the torque convertor at all times.
