    摘要: A torque converter oil cooling system includes an air-oil cooler system that is adapted to be disposed between a torque converter charging oil outlet and charging oil inlet. The torque converter oil cooling system has a controller that directs oil when at a predetermined temperature to pass through an air oil cooler for cooling and then directs the cooled oil back to the inlet of the torque converter for torque converter operation. The torque converter oil cooling system normally operates in the non-lockup mode operation of the torque converter. Using the torque converter oil cooling system permits a vehicle to continuously operate in a torque converter mode for an extended period of time, which becomes extremely helpful when the vehicle is called upon to haul heavy loads over steep grades.

    摘要: A hydraulic control system for an automatic transmission with a torque converter includes two regulator valves controlled by a single variable force solenoid (VFS). A bypass clutch regulator valve increases the pressure to a bypass clutch apply chamber as the VFS pressure increases. A converter charge regulator valve decreases the pressure in a converter charge circuit as the VFS pressure increases. The converter charge circuit is in series with a lubrication circuit. An orifice restricts the flow through these circuits such that they can be supplied from the line pressure circuit rather than a lower priority circuit. In one embodiment, an on/off solenoid opens a flow control valve to bypass the orifice when additional flow is required. In another embodiment, an electric pump supplements the flow in these circuits when required. This later embodiment includes a switch valve such that the electric pump also supports stop/start operation.

    摘要: The invention concerns a hydrodynamic coupling, having a pump wheel and a turbine wheel, which form together a toroidal working chamber which can be filled with working medium; with a closed working medium circuit, which extends from the working chamber via a working chamber outlet, an external circuit branch and a working chamber inlet back into the working chamber; with a storage chamber positioned outside the working chamber and outside the closed working medium circuit, for receiving the working medium evacuated from the working chamber for reducing the filling level of the working chamber, which is connected via a connection for conveying the working medium outside the working chamber to the closed working medium circuit. The invention is characterized in that the storage chamber is designed as a confined chamber which is pressure-tight to the environment, having a control pressure port so as to forcibly displace the working medium in the storage chamber with a control pressure.
