    摘要: A ramp member is supported on a flying slider in a load/unload mechanism of a recording medium drive. The flying slider receives a lift at its air bearing surface based on airflow generated along the moving recording medium. The flying slider flies above the recording medium. The flying height of the flying slider can be controlled with a higher accuracy in the same manner as a flying head slider utilized to read and write data from and into the recording medium. The slope of the ramp member on the flying slider can accordingly be kept at a predetermined level above the recording medium with a higher accuracy. Even if the extent of the slope is reduced, the load bar is allowed to reliably contact the slope. This leads to expansion of the data zone on the recording medium.

An HDD is actually driven by a current value obtained by correcting the normal driving current of the driving motor of the head by the transfer function.

    摘要: A ramp member is supported on a flying slider in a load/unload mechanism of a recording medium drive. In a disk device that has a disk medium, a head, an actuator, a control circuit, there is a conversion mechanism that sets a data area in the writing range of the disk that corresponds to the range of motion of the actuator, and converts a logical address to a physical address in the data area. This invention makes it possible to set a storage capacity that makes maximum use of the range of motion of the actuator for any device, even when there is a position offset in the range of motion of the actuator.

    摘要: Disclosed herein is a head actuator for a head provided so as to accessible to a disk-shaped recording medium rotating above a base. The head actuator includes a main actuator driven so as to rotate above the base, and a microactuator driven so as to swing relative to the main actuator. The head is mounted on the microactuator. The main actuator and the microactuator are controlled so that the head is moved in a substantially radial direction of the recording medium and positioned over a desired track of the recording medium. A primary resonant frequency of mechanical characteristics of the main actuator is set to 100 Hz or higher. This setting may be achieved by increasing a preload in a ball bearing of the main actuator, for example, to thereby increase the rigidity of a nonlinear spring of the ball bearing. In the case that a disturbance acts on the main actuator, the above setting allows a reduction in displacement of the microactuator required for positioning of the head over the desired track.
