    摘要: A local entity without its own means of voice communication is provided with the semblance of having a voice interaction capability. This is done by providing a beacon device at or near the entity, the beacon device transmitting, over a short-range communication link, contact data identifying a voice service associated with, but hosted separately from, the entity. The transmitted contact data is picked up by equipment carried by a nearby person and used to contact the voice service over a wireless network. The person then interacts with the voice service, the latter acting as a voice proxy for the local entity. The contact data can be presented to the user in other ways, for example, by being inscribed on the local entity for scanning or user input into the equipment.

The graphical and networking features of RIA frameworks in conjunction with at least one real-time data server provides low-latency, real-time data applications in a web browser. In one embodiment, data is produced at a data source, propagated to a server, and collected at the server. A persistent connection is created from a RIA to the server, and the RIA is subscribed to the data, wherein the subscribed data comprises at least some of the data collected at the server, and wherein the server propagates the subscribed data to the RIA through the persistent connection as the data is collected at the server.

    摘要: An apparatus for performing ultrasonic inspection of an object, during one measurement on the object, triggers a sequence of excitations of the probe system and receives a sequence of substantially identical echo signals reflected from the object, and further scales each echo signal to different degrees to increase and extend the dynamic range of the echo signals. An A/D converter is then used to digitize the scaled signal sequentially in a manner which dispenses the need for using numerous A/D converters and the associated filters. The digitized signal samples are then combined to produce a single digital output in a manner that is not over-flowed and with desirable resolution.
