摘要: A magneto-optical memory element consisting of a substrate, provided with an amorphous layer of an alloy of a rare-earth metal and a transition metal. The layer has a uniaxial magnetic anisotropy. Such memory elements are suitable for storing digital information in the form of magnetized areas, the magnetization direction of which can be read by means of the Kerr effect or Faraday effect. By adding bismuth and/or tin to the alloy the Kerr rotation and Faraday rotation can each be increased considerably, so that simpler reading of the stored information is possible.

摘要: A bi-directional flow catheter for insertion into the body of a patient for the simultaneous introduction into and withdrawal therefrom of fluid. The catheter includes a primary tube having open distal and proximal ends, and a pair of branching tubes, each of which branch from a different side of the primary tube. The primary tube also has an opening in one side thereof to allow introduction of fluid. An elongate trocar/valve member is disposed in the primary tube and is movable longitudinally therein between an insert position and a flow position. One end of the trocar/valve member tapers to a cutting edge which protrudes from the opening in the distal end of the primary tube when the member is in the insert position. The trocar/valve member is formed to prevent communication between the side opening and the opening in the distal end of the primary tube, and to cover the passageways between the primary tube and respective ones of the branching tubes when the member is in the insert position. When the member is in the flow position, the cutting end thereof is withdrawn from the distal opening and communication is allowed between the side opening and one of the branching tubes and between the distal opening and the other of the branching tubes to thereby allow simultaneous introduction of fluid into and withdrawal of fluid from the body of a patient.

摘要: Systems and methods of generating timing triggers to determine timing resolutions of gamma events for nuclear imaging includes receiving a pulse signature representing a succession of triggers associated with a photomultiplier. When a number of triggers occurring within a predetermined time interval matches a predetermined number, an event trigger can be initiated. A delayed version of the pulse signature can be generated and compared to a predetermined timing trigger level. When the delayed version matches the predetermined timing trigger level, a timing trigger can be generated. Based on the timing trigger level, the timing trigger can be generated at the pulse of the delayed version that corresponds to the first photoelectron of a gamma event. The timing trigger can correspond to a timestamp for the first photoelectron so that a data acquisition system can identify the pulse from which to acquire energy information to generate a nuclear image.

摘要: In one aspect, the present invention provides an order slicer that receives an order that to trade a financial instrument. The order associates a trading strategy with said order. The trading strategy is replaceable. In another aspect, an interface accepts a trading strategy of an order to trade a financial instrument. A transmitter transmits the trading strategy to an order slicer.

摘要: By supplying auxiliary power to a blade's optional components, instead of polling the blade for the power requirements of a fully configured module, each installed component can be individually polled and the values summed to produce a more accurate value representing the actual power needs of a blade system prior to booting.
