    摘要: Silicon-containing organic compounds useful as starting materials of functional polymer materials, as well as a process for preparing the same, are provided. The silicon-containing organic compounds are represented by the following general formula: ##STR1## where R.sup.1 is a .pi. conjugated type divalent organic group having 2 to 30 carbon atoms, R.sup.2 is a hydrocarbon group having 1 to 30 carbon atoms, X.sup.1 is a halogen atom, m and n satisfy the conditions of 1.ltoreq.m.ltoreq.2 and n.gtoreq.2, respectively. A compound of the above general formula is prepared by reacting an organometallic compound of the following general formula:M.sup.1 -R.sup.1 -M.sup.2where M.sup.1 and M.sup.2 are each a metal selected from Group 1, 2 and 12 metals in the Periodic Table, with a silane compound of the following general formula: ##STR2## where R.sup.2 is a hydrocarbon group having 1 to 30 carbon atoms, X.sup.1, X.sup.2 and X.sup.3 are each a halogen atom.

    摘要: The present invention provides a method for producing an activated carbon for an electric double layer capacitor, with which the wettability of a carbon material with an alkali activator is improved, thereby improving contact efficiency between the carbon material and the alkali activator and efficiently promoting reaction between the carbon material, which is a starting material and the activator. The method comprises adjusting a carbon material as it is or after having been calcined to produce a carbon powder having an average particle diameter of 0.5 to 15 μm, oxidizing the carbon powder to contain 3 percent by mass or more of oxygen, and activating the oxidized product with an alkali activator.

    摘要: The present invention provides a process for producing an activated carbon having a small average particle diameter, a uniform particle size and a relatively large specific surface area suitable for an electric double layer capacitor electrode, in an easy and cost effective manner. The process comprises calcining an easily graphitizable carbon material such as petroleum coke or coal coke, used as the raw material under an oxidizing gas atmosphere, adjusting the particle size of the carbon material, and then activating the carbon material. The use of the activated carbon produced by the process of the present invention in an electrode can provide an electric double layer capacitor having a large capacitance per unit volume.
