Abstract: Techniques described herein may be used to more efficiently use subcarriers allocated to a narrowband channel of a wireless telecommunications network. For example, a base station may identify a middle subcarrier of the narrowband channel and partition the middle subcarrier into additional subcarriers. The additional subcarriers may include a direct circuit (DC) subcarrier occupying a middle bandwidth of the middle subcarrier, and a synchronization subcarrier and a paging subcarrier on either side of the DC subcarrier. The synchronization subcarrier may be dedicated exclusively to communicating synchronization information, and the paging subcarrier may be dedicated exclusively to communicating paging information. The synchronization information may include a preamble signal, a Primary Synchronization Signal (PSS), and a Secondary Synchronization Signal (SSS) that are repeated over consecutive frames. The paging information may include paging codes that devices may passively listen for in order to be paged by the base station.

The service may provision a network slice with multiple tiers of service based on a performance metric with differing performance metric values. The service may also provision the network slice based on other factors such as location of an application service layer network. The service may monitor and reconfigure the network slice when the performance metric is not satisfied.

Abstract: A device may receive data indicating a required quality of service (QoS), and may receive radio access network (RAN) information associated with a RAN, wherein the RAN information is provided by a centralized unit (CU) of the RAN. The device may provide the RAN information to a multi-access edge computing (MEC) platform, and may receive, from the MEC platform, a QoS request that requests the required QoS. The device may provide the QoS request to the CU, and may receive a QoS response to the QoS request. The device may provide the QoS response to a policy control function (PCF) of a core network, and may receive an indication of approval of the QoS response from the PCF. The device may cause, based on receiving the indication of approval, the required QoS to be implemented by the MEC platform and network devices associated with the core network.

Abstract: A base station may receive repetitive data transmitted using a particular set of radio resources The base station may apply a first orthogonal pattern, assigned to a first user equipment (UE), to a segment of subframes of the received repetitive data. The base station may apply a second orthogonal pattern, assigned to a second UE, to the segment of subframes of the received repetitive data. The base station may determine first repetitive data, transmitted by the first UE using the particular set of radio resources, based on applying the first orthogonal pattern to the segment of subframes of the received repetitive data. The base station may determine second repetitive data, transmitted by the second UE using the particular set of radio resources, based on applying the second orthogonal pattern to the segment of subframes of the received repetitive data.

Abstract: A method, a device, and a non-transitory storage medium provide to estimate a load for each access mode of multiple access modes of a wireless station, wherein the access modes include a first mode and one or more other modes; calculate a loading metric for each access mode based on its corresponding load in response to the estimation; calculate an order of priority for each access mode by which one or more end devices are to use to connect to the wireless station, based on the loading metric of each access mode; generate a first message that includes the order of priority; and broadcast the first message within a cell of the wireless station.

Abstract: A method, a device, and a non-transitory storage medium are provided to store traffic management data that indicates different levels of congestion that are each correlated to a different category of application of an end device, a type of congestion mechanism including at least one of access class barring, enhanced access class barring, service specific access control, application specific congestion control for data communication, or unattended and background data traffic, and barring parameters; receive a request for wireless service; obtain a level of congestion; determine that the request cannot be granted based on the level of congestion; select one of the levels of congestion based on the level of congestion; generate a first barring message based on the type of congestion mechanism, barring parameters, and category of application correlated to the one of the levels of congestion; and transmit the first barring message to the end devices.

Abstract: A method includes receiving, at a network control component, an enhanced subscriber profile identifier (E-SPID) associated with at least one machine type communications (MTC) user device from a home subscriber server (HSS). The method includes determining whether the E-SPID is in a first range of E-SPID values, wherein the first range of E-SPID values corresponds to a delay that exceeds a threshold, and interacting with a self-organizing network (SON) controller that interacts an operation administration maintenance (OAM) component to control and define a modified E-SPID based on network traffic and coverage in response to a determination that the E-SPID is in the first range of E-SPID values. The method further includes sending the modified E-SPID to at least one enhanced evolved node b (eNodeB) associated with the at least one MTC user device, wherein the at least one enhanced eNodeB is operable to perform access control and scheduling for the at least one MTC user device based on the E-SPID.
