摘要： Toner including toner particles having a calcium-containing material at least in a surface portion of the toner particle, wherein the toner particles contain calcium in an amount of from 20 ppm to about 300 ppm of calcium by dry weight of the toner. Developer including a carrier and a toner, wherein the toner includes toner particles having a calcium-containing material at least in a surface portion of the toner particles. In an emulsion aggregation process for making toner particles, the toner particles are treated with calcium. The addition of calcium to the toner particles improves toner performance by lowering cohesion and charging, thereby generating an image of high gloss.

摘要： The toner described herein contains toner particles containing polymer, colorant and cross-linked polymer. The cross-linked polymer is incorporated at least in the shell of the toner particles. Incorporating cross-linked polymer in the shell of the toner particles provide bumps in the surface of the toner particles. These bumps can behave as spacers. Such toner can be formed by aggregating at least polymer particles and colorant particles to form core particles; aggregating at least cross-linked polymer particles to the surface of the core particles; and coalescing the resulting particles to form toner particles.

摘要： A developer includes black toner particles and carrier particles, the black toner particles including at least one binder, at least one black colorant and one or more external additives, wherein the toner particles comprise from about 7 to about 15 pph of the developer, and wherein the toner particles exhibit a triboelectric charge of from about −25 to about −50 μC/g at toner particle concentrations of about 7 to about 15 pph of the developer. The developer is ideally suited for use in a high speed (greater than 100 prints per minute) semiconductive magnetic brush development apparatus. Preferably, the black toner particles include a styrene acrylate binder, and the external additives include from about 1.3 to about 2.1% by weight of the toner particles of a first silica having an average particle size of from about 35 to about 45 nm, from about 0.5 to about 1.0% by weight of the toner particles of a second silica having an average particle size of from about 135 to about 160 nm, and from about 0.2 to about 0.5% by weight of the toner particles of a titania having an average particle size of from about 35 to about 45 nm, with an external additive toner surface area coverage of from about 25 to about 45%.

Processes for preparing a toner include mixing a non-cross linked resin and a cross-linked resin or gel in the presence of a wax, a colorant, and a coagulant to provide toner size aggregates; adding additional non-cross linked latex to the formed aggregates thereby providing a shell over the formed aggregates; heating the shell covered aggregates to form toner; and, optionally, isolating the toner.

摘要： A toner that is emulsion aggregation toner particles having an acrylate-containing polymer binder and at least one colorant has an average particle size of from about 5.0 μm to about 6.7 μm and an average circularity of about 0.950 to about 0.970. The toner preferably is comprised of styrene-butyl acrylate binder and gel. The toner preferably exhibits a transfer efficiency of about 0.8-1.0, a developability of about 0.3 to about 1.5 mg/cm2, and a charge to diameter ratio (q/d) of about −0.7 to about −0.1 fC/micron. A developer containing the toner and a method of forming an image using the toner are also described.
