Aspects of the present invention include method and apparatuses that may be utilized to more efficiently use available storage space for a digital video recording system in a law enforcement vehicle and final “backend storage systems.” In one embodiment of the present invention, video and audio data is recorded in one or more buffers when a triggering event is activated, while a digital video recording device accounts for specified pre-event time, a time period before a first triggering event has been activated, and a post-event time, a time period after a second triggering event has been activated. The system will tag the actual start and stop points of events in one or more buffers based on a first and a second triggering event and will then include the pre-event and post-event data along with specified data. The system will then extract the event from one or more buffer files and write the event into final video files to be stored in a hard disk drive. By recording the pre-event and post-event data in multiple buffer files and extracting the final result from selected buffer files based on the nature of the event type, the system ensures that storage device is effectively used and, in this way, useful information is recorded.

A toner of a sulfonated polyester resin and at least one colorant is made to contain from about 0.01% by weigh to about 3% by weight of dry toner in total of lithium, sodium, zinc and calcium. The sulfonated polyester resin may be an alkali metal sulfonated polyester resin, wherein the alkali metal may be sodium and/or lithium. The toner may be formed in an emulsion aggregation process in which an alkali (II) metal salt such as a zinc salt and/or a calcium salt is used as an aggregating agent.

A toner process comprised of a first heating of a mixture of an acicular magnetite dispersion, a colorant dispersion, a wax dispersion, and a core latex comprised of a first latex containing a vinyl crystalline polyester resin substantially free of crosslinking, and wherein said polyester is substantially dissolved in a vinyl monomer and polymerized to provide said first core latex resin, and which mixture contains a second crosslinked resin containing latex wherein said heating is accomplished in the presence of a coagulant to provide aggregates; adding a shell latex comprised of a polymer substantially free of crosslinking, and further heating said aggregates to provide coalesced toner particles, and wherein said further heating is at a higher temperature than said first heating.

A dual coagulant toner process comprising adding a first component comprising an ionic salt to a latex emulsion of resin having a colorant mixed therein, to form a latex emulsion; adding a second component comprising an organo-metallic aggregating agent to the latex emulsion by agitation at a temperature above a glass transition temperature of the resin, thereby forming a product mixture; subsequently cooling the product mixture to a temperature below the glass transition temperature of the resin, in order to form toner particles; and optionally, isolating the toner particles.

Toner compositions comprising toner particles including additive particles upon an external surface of the toner particles, wherein the additive particles include crosslinked styrene containing polymer particles, exhibit reduced sensitivity to relative humidity. The crosslinked styrene containing polymer particles preferably have an average particle size of from about 30 nm to about 300 nm, and may comprise styrene homopolymer particles, styrene copolymer particles or mixtures thereof. A process of reducing the relative humidity sensitivity of toner using such external surface additive is also described.
Abstract:
A toner is disclosed that includes a toner binder of crystalline sulfonated polyester, wherein the crystalline sulfonated polyester is 90% by weight or more of the toner binder, and a colorant. In other embodiments, the toner includes a crystalline sulfonated polyester and a linear amorphous sulfonated polyester, and a colorant. In these embodiments, the crystalline sulfonated polyester is from about 20% to about 60% by weight of the toner binder and the linear amorphous sulfonated polyester is from about 40% to about 80% by weight of the toner binder. The toners possess excellent miniumum fixing temperatures in the range of from about 80° C. to about 130° C. Processes for preparing the toners are also described.
