Such methods encompass contacting an oral surface with a primary oral care composition at least once daily, contacting the oral surface with a periodic oral care maintenance composition at least once monthly, wherein the periodic oral care maintenance composition comprises a basic amino acid, in free or salt form and optionally contacting the oral surface with a periodic oral care cleaning composition at least once monthly. The periodic oral care cleaning compositions suitable for use in the method comprise an abrasive system.

摘要： A method for whitening a dental surface comprises nonsimultaneously applying a whitening composition to the surface, the whitening composition comprising at least one orally acceptable peroxy compound, and directing a volume of up to about 2.5 ml of an atomized activating composition on to the surface, wherein the activating composition comprises, in the volume so directed, a peroxy compound activating effective amount of at least one orally acceptable basifying agent, and wherein applying the whitening composition and directing the activating composition are separated by an interval not greater than a peroxy compound activating effective interval. The atomized composition can be directed on to the dental surface before or after application of the whitening composition.

摘要： A detergent soap composition in bar form comprising (1) an alkali metal or ammonium soap of a saturated or unsaturated fatty acid or mixture thereof, (2) a moisture content in the range of 6-14% by weight of total water, and (3) from about 0.5 to about 15% by weight of a structurant selected from the group consisting of tetrasodium pyrophosphate, a hydrate of tetrasodium pyrophosphate (TSPP) and mixtures thereof. The structurant provides enhanced structural integrity, hardness, slough and wear- and crack-resistant characteristics to the bar. A method of preparing the detergent soap composition comprising mixing in a crutcher, the soap, water and FSPP at a temperature above 80.degree. C. and subsequently removing excess moisture at a temperature above about 80.degree. C. for a time sufficient to reduce the total water content of the mixture to from 6-14% by weight, followed by cooling and forming into a bar, is also disclosed.

摘要： An improved process for making a mild, detergent-soap, toilet bar containing a C6-C18 acyl isethionate as the principal surfactant in combination with minor proportions of C12-C20 fatty acids, a water soluble soap and water which comprises the step of forming a liquid mixture of said acyl isethionate, fatty acids and soap at a temperature of about 85.degree. C. to 105.degree. C. in the presence of about 0.5% to 2.5% by weight, based upon the bar, of vegetable oil prior to processing said liquid mixture on a chill roll to form particles which are further processed to yield said bar, said liquid mixture having reduced viscosity and being readily pumpable as compared to a liquid mixture prepared in the absence of said vegetable oil. The bar produced by the foregoing process also is part of the invention.
