摘要: Presented herein are techniques for the determination/selection of a set of electrodes for use in an electrically-stimulating auditory/hearing prosthesis. More specifically, an electrically-stimulating hearing prosthesis includes a plurality of electrodes implanted in a recipient. Based, at least in part on a recipient's subjective preferences, one or more of these electrodes may be deactivated. The remaining (i.e., non-deactivated) electrodes form a final electrode set that is subsequently used by the hearing prosthesis for subsequent hearing rehabilitation operations.

摘要: Presented herein are techniques for setting operational parameters of an implantable medical device system based on a combination of at least one monopolar stimulation measurement and one or more multipolar (focused) stimulation measurements. In particular, the techniques presented herein perform at least one objective or behavioral measurement using monopolar stimulation, and the same objective or behavioral measurement using focused stimulation with one or more degrees of focusing. Hearing outcomes/responses evoked in response to each of the measurements are captured/recorded and evaluated relative to one another to set one or more operational parameters, such as the degree of focusing, of the implantable medical device or implantable medical device system.

摘要: Cochlear implant systems can include a cochlear electrode, a stimulator in electrical communication with the cochlear electrode, a sensor configured to receive a stimulus signal and generate an input signal based on the received stimulus signal, and a signal processor in communication with the stimulator and the sensor. The signal processor can include an analog filtering stage configured to generate an analog filtered signal from a received input signal and a digital filtering stage configured to generate a digitally filtered signal from the analog filtered signal. The analog filtering stage and digital filtering stage can be used to normalize the frequency response of the digitally filtered signal with respect to the stimulus signal.

摘要: A system comprises an auditory device processor, an auditory device output mechanism, an auditory input sensor, a database including a reference bank of environmental sounds and corresponding sound profiles, and a memory. The auditory device processor is configured to: while the auditory input sensor is detecting a first environmental sound, receive a sound selection from the user, wherein the sound selection is associated with the first environmental sound; store a first sound profile in the reference bank corresponding to the first environmental sound; receive a second environmental sound detected by the auditory input sensor; analyze a frequency content of the second environmental sound; compare the frequency content of the second environmental sound with the reference bank of environmental sounds and corresponding sound profiles stored in the database; in response to the comparison, select one of the sound profiles corresponding to the second environmental sound; and automatically adjust the parameter settings.

摘要: Presented herein are techniques for dynamically changing how a recipient-associated device (e.g., external component and/or user device linked to an external component) interacts with a user based on whether the external component of a medical device system is coupled to the recipient. In particular, a recipient-associated device in accordance with embodiments presented herein provides a first type of user interaction while the external component is coupled to the recipient, but the recipient-associated device provides a second (and different) type of user interaction when the external component is uncoupled/decoupled from the recipient (e.g., dynamically adjusting a user interface provided by a recipient-associated device based on whether the external component is coupled or decoupled from the recipient).

摘要: Presented herein are techniques that make use of objective measurements obtained in response to acoustic stimulation signals. More specifically, at least one measure of outer hair cell function and at least one measure of auditory nerve function are obtained from a tonotopic region of an inner ear of a recipient of a hearing prosthesis. The at least one measure of auditory nerve function and the least one measure of outer hair cell function are then analyzed relative to one another.

摘要: Presented herein are techniques that use acoustic scene (environmental) analysis to determine the sound class of sound signals received at a hearing prosthesis and, accordingly, assess the estimated listening difficulty that the acoustic environment presents to a recipient of the hearing prosthesis. This difficulty of the recipient's listening situation can be used to adjust, adapt, or otherwise set the resolution of the electrical stimulation signals delivered to the recipient to evoke perception of the sound signals. In other words, the resolution of the electrical stimulation signals is dynamically adapted based on the present acoustic environment of the hearing prosthesis.

摘要: This document discusses, among other things, systems and methods for robotically assisted implantation of an implant in a patient. A system includes an external positioning unit configured to engage an elongate member of the implant, and a control console communicatively coupled to the external positioning unit. The control console may have a user interface that enables a user to input motion control instructions. The control console may generate a motion control signal, according to a specific motion control instruction, to control the external positioning unit to propel the implant into a target implant site. The system may be used to robotically control the delivery and positioning of a cochlear implant during a hearing-preservation cochlear implant surgery.

摘要: A system and method of providing an acoustic stimulus for a human subject so as to evoke an auditory response is presented. The method includes creating a chirp signal, wherein creating the chirp signal includes adding a plurality of frequency signals, each frequency signal delayed within the chirp signal based on its associated frequency specific basilar membrane delay determined as a function of measured in vivo frequency specific basilar membrane delays.
