    摘要: A passive ISDN adapter card includes a serial controller (1) as is normally used to connect an external data transmission device; an ISDN data transmission controller (2) connected to the serial controller and controlled by the CPU of a computer (4); and an ISDN connection controller (3) controlled by the CPU of the computer (4) and connected to the data transmission controller (2). The ISDN adaptor card is compatible with a modem connected to the serial port without an INT-14-H interface for the evaluation process.

    摘要: In a telecommunication switching system, an apparatus for automatically converting ISDN codeset and codepoint protocol in messages transmitted to the telecommunication switching system from a plurality of other telecommunication switching systems each using a diffrent ISDN codeset and codepoint protcol than the telecommunication switching system to identify the same data information. All telecommunication switching systems are interconnected by data channels. Further, the apparatus is responsive to another ISDN message generated by the telecommunications switching system for transmission to another one of the plurality of telecommunication switching systems to convert the codeset and codepoint protocol of the other message to the codepoint and codeset protocol of the other one of the plurality of telecommunication switching systems. The conversions are performed by using sets of conversion tables each identified with an ISDN data channel, and the identity of the data channel is used to select which set of tables is to be used to convert a codeset and codepoint protocol.

    摘要: For packet-data switching in the ISDN D channel through a digital exchange, the need for a costly frame handler for processing OSI Layer 2 and 3 functions is to be eliminated; in response to destination information in the SET UP message, an OSI Layer 3 control unit (SE3) establishes a connection between the two OSI Layer 2 control units (SE1, SE2) of the exchange (VST), to which the data terminals (DEE1, DEE2) are connectable and direct packet-data transfer can then take place between the OSI Layer 2 control units without further participation of the Layer 3 control unit.

    摘要: An architecture for a switching node of a communication network includes a dedicated hardware Layer 1 processing portion and a Layer 2 and 3 processing portion based on multiple programmed general purpose processors. An array of such processors are used with an arbitration scheme for selecting which of the processors is to be used for any given Layer 2 or Layer 3 process. The architecture allows the node's capacity to be expanded by simply adding more processors to handle increased traffic.
