Abstract: Presented herein are techniques for dynamically changing how a recipient-associated device (e.g., external component and/or user device linked to an external component) interacts with a user based on whether the external component of a medical device system is coupled to the recipient. In particular, a recipient-associated device in accordance with embodiments presented herein provides a first type of user interaction while the external component is coupled to the recipient, but the recipient-associated device provides a second (and different) type of user interaction when the external component is uncoupled/decoupled from the recipient (e.g., dynamically adjusting a user interface provided by a recipient-associated device based on whether the external component is coupled or decoupled from the recipient).

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for treating an inflammatory or allergic response associated with a replicating pathogen, such as a virus in the coronaviridae family. The methods include emitting an electrical impulse near a vagus nerve within the patient sufficient to inhibit or reduce an inflammatory or allergic response in the patient, provide relief for bronchoconstriction that results in the tightening of airways and the inability to breath without ventilator support and/or lessen the abnormal blot clotting that develops in some patients. The systems and methods are particularly useful for treating post-COVID conditions or post-acute sequelae of COVID-19 that develop in “long-haul” or COVID patients.

Abstract: A neural stimulus comprises at least three stimulus components, each comprising at least one of a temporal stimulus phase and a spatial stimulus pole. A first stimulus component delivers a first charge which is unequal to a third charge delivered by a third stimulus component, and the first charge and third charge are selected so as to give rise to reduced artefact at recording electrodes. In turn this may be exploited to independently control a correlation delay of a vector detector and an artefact vector to be non-parallel or orthogonal.

Abstract: Improved stimulation circuitry for controlling the stimulation delivered by an implantable stimulator is disclosed. The stimulation circuitry includes memory circuitry that stores pulse programs that define pulse shapes, steering programs that define electrode configurations, and aggregate programs that link a selected pulse program with a selected steering program. Each steering program defines the stimulation polarity and the allocation of current of the specified stimulation polarity for each of the pulse generator's electrodes. Each pulse program includes one or more pulse instructions, where each instruction defines the parameters of a single phase of the pulse program. Pulse definition circuits in the stimulation circuitry execute aggregate programs to generate stimulation waveforms, which stimulation waveforms can be generated simultaneously by the different pulse definition circuits.

Abstract: An electric treatment device includes an impedance detector to measure bioelectrical impedance at a site of a body of a user by using electrodes in contact with the site, a voltage controller to perform treatment of the site by controlling a voltage applied to the electrodes, and a timer to set a target time from when treatment of the site is started by the voltage controller to when the voltage value of the applied voltage reaches the target voltage value, based on the measured bioelectrical impedance. The greater the measured bioelectrical impedance is, the shorter the timer sets the target time. The voltage controller increases the voltage value of the applied voltage to the target voltage value based on the set target time.

Abstract: A method of preventing infection resulting from implanting a medical device. The method includes installing a polymer device at least substantially within a subcutaneous pocket formed to contain a housing of the medical device, and installing the medical device housing in the subcutaneous pocket. The polymer device includes a bioresorbable polymer structure and an antimicrobial agent configured to elute from the polymer structure. The polymer device covers less than about 20% of the surface area of the medical device housing.
