摘要: The invention is a watercraft to aircraft refueling system (“WARS”). A WARS is a refueling system based from a watercraft, such as a surface ship or submarine. A WARS would typically include an elevation apparatus to lift a refueling hose above the water. The elevation apparatus can compose a lifting or swiveling mechanism. In some embodiments both a lifting and swiveling mechanism is used. The WARS lifts the refueling hose above the water, allowing an aircraft to engage with the WARS. The refueling hose may also include a telescoping mechanism or a rotor apparatus or a pressurized water nozzle system to elevate the refueling hose and assist in engaging a WARS with an aircraft.

摘要: A hull support structure of a liquefied gas tank has a foundation deck disposed around a liquefied gas tank; a skirt which supports the liquefied gas tank on the foundation deck; an inner bottom plate extending in a hull length direction, at a location that is below the liquefied gas tank; and a pair of bilge hopper plates each of which is provided between the foundation deck and corresponding one of both end portions of the inner bottom plate, wherein a plate connection section at which each of the pair of bilge hopper plates is connected to the foundation deck is disposed outward in a hull width direction, relative to a skirt connection section at which the skirt is connected to the foundation deck.

摘要: A system and method of reducing corrosion in the ballast tanks of a ship is comprised of a central inert gas manifold extending down into the furthest reaches of the ballast tank, a plurality of lateral gas distribution manifolds extending away from the central manifold, and a plurality of downwardly projecting diffusers connected to the lateral gas distributors that release the inert gas at multiple simultaneous points within the ballast tank space. A method is further presented for using the diffuser array to sparge the ballast water with the inert gas to inhibit microbiological induced corrosion.

摘要: A navigable vessel for use in reducing the intensity of a tropical cyclone having an eye located over an ocean comprises a plurality of artificial snow-making devices aboard the vessel, at least one pump coupled to the devices and accessible to a body of water in which the vessel is floating for supplying the devices with water for making artificial snow, and a power source coupled to the devices to operate the devices in concert for producing a substantially uninterrupted supply of artificial snow. The artificial snow-making devices have discharge nozzles oriented to project the artificial snow away from the vessel onto or above the water adjacent the vessel.
