    摘要: Graphene particulates, especially graphene nanoribbons (GNRs) and graphene quantum dots (GQDs), and a high-throughput process for the production of such particulates is provided. The graphene particulates are produced by a nanotomy process in which graphene blocks are cut from a source of graphite and then exfoliated into a plurality of graphene particulates. Graphene particulates having narrow widths, on the order of 100 nm or less, can be produced having band gap properties suitable for use in a variety of electrical applications.

    摘要: Provided is an apparatus and method for exfoliation of graphene, comprising a chamber which has a through-hole formed at one surface thereof; a cylinder which receives graphite and a volatile material to be vaporized at room temperature and has an opening to be corresponding to the through-hole of the chamber, and which is disposed at an outside of the chamber; a clamp which is disposed in the chamber to pass through the through-hole of the chamber and thus selectively seal the opening of the cylinder; and an operation mechanism which is connected with the clamp and moves the clamp so that the opening of the cylinder is selectively sealed by the clamp. Therefore, it is not necessary to use an acid like sulfuric acid, and it is also not necessary to perform a thermal treatment process for removing sulfuric acid.

    摘要: A combined production-functionalization process for producing a chemically functionalized nano graphene material from a pre-intercalated, oxidized, or halogenated graphite material, comprising: (A) Producing exfoliated graphite from the pre-intercalated, oxidized, or halogenated graphite material, wherein the graphite material is selected from the group consisting of natural graphite, artificial graphite, highly oriented pyrolytic graphite, carbon fiber, graphite fiber, carbon nano-fiber, graphitic nano-fiber, meso-carbon micro-bead, graphitized coke, and combinations thereof; (B) Dispersing the exfoliated graphite and an azide or bi-radical compound in a liquid medium to form a suspension; (C) Subjecting the suspension to ultrasonication with ultrasonic waves of a desired intensity for a length of time sufficient to produce nano graphene platelets and to enable a chemical reaction to occur between the nano graphene platelets and the azide or bi-radical compound to produce the functionalized nano graphene material.

    摘要: Provided in this invention is a process for producing chemically functionalized nano graphene materials, known as nano graphene platelets (NGPs), graphene nano sheets, or graphene nano ribbons. Subsequently, a polymer can be grafted to a functional group of the resulting functionalized graphene. In one preferred embodiment, the process comprises a step of mixing a starting nano graphene material having edges and two primary graphene surfaces, an azide or bi-radical compound, and an organic solvent in a reactor, and allowing a chemical reaction between the nano graphene material and the azide compound to proceed at a temperature for a length of time sufficient to produce the functionalized nano graphene material.
