摘要： A mechanism for minimizing frictional resistance to movement of sewing machine work clamps which permits a substantial increase in machine speed. Plastic lined sockets carrying steel ball bearings are elevated through the throat plate in timed relationship with the sewing needle rise and prior to feeding work clamp movement. The balls impinge on the bottom work clamp raising the bottom work clamp and upper work clamp out of engagement with the throat plate thereby also increasing clamping pressure on the work material between the clamps. An arched clamp frame which supports the work clamps absorbs the reaction force through similar balls in plastic lined sockets impinging on a hardened steel plate on the underside of the bracket arm. Motion of the entire clamp assembly takes place on ball bearings which are retracted during needle penetration to obviate flagging of the work material.

摘要： An attachment (24) for a sewing machine (10) to provide simultaneous sewing and sealing of a seam comprises a reel (23) for dispensing a strip of adhesive thermoplastic polymer (25) between fabric members (7,9) to be sewn. A plurality of heated driven rollers (40, 42, 44) opposed to heated idler rollers (50) having a continuous belt (52) thereover collectively exert heat and pressure on the seam, melting the polymer strip (25) so as to seal the seam. Thread (17) having been treated with adhesive thermoplastic polymer may be employed to seal the punctures in the fabric made by the sewing machine's needle (19). The driven rollers are driven in synchronization with the operation of the sewing machine and are engaged with and withdrawn from the seam responsive to operator command.

The fabric is embossed with a micro-pattern extending into the yarns or into a layer underneath the fabric. The micro-pattern contains a pre-defined pattern of a plurality of binding points attaching the yarns to the inner layer or to the added underlayer. This micro-pattern has an inter-point spacing between adjacent binding points that is less than the interlooping intervals. The fabric can also be embossed with a macro-pattern separate from and coarser than the micro-pattern. The macro-pattern establishes a desired aesthetic in the fabric, and the micro-pattern does not interfere with the desired aesthetic.

摘要： A bobbin case holder body and a track projection portion are made of steel. A coating member of a liquid crystal polymer is integrally molded to the outer surface of the track projection portion so as to have a thickness t which is selected to be 0.3 to 0.5 mm. A part of the coating member is fitted into a groove formed in the track projection portion, thereby preventing the member from peeling off. In a loop spreading portion, the track projection portion made of steel is exposed from the coating member so that a so-called thread handing area is prevented from being formed. Therefore, wear resistance and durability are improved.
