Abstract:
A measurement device and apparatus for measuring the out-of-roundness of a circular part. The apparatus includes a base on which a travel assembly is mounted within an elongated channel formed in the base. A recirculating ball bearing slide assembly is operatively coupled to a flat strip force spring, which is in turn coupled to ball bearing slide assembly, and which provides a constant contact force, regardless of distance, to bias the travel assembly into a 90-degree corner portion of the base assembly. A generally circular part is placed in the 90-degree corner and manually rotated while the travel assembly is in contact with an outer surface thereof. The linear movement of the travel assembly is detected by a measurement device which provides an indication of the out-of-roundness of the part.
Abstract:
The peripheral surface shape measuring apparatus can simply and accurately measure a peripheral surface shape of a roll-like object. The peripheral surface shape of a roll-like object is measured by moving a displacement amount measuring device which pinches a diameter direction of the roll-like object with a sensor part and a reference point part arranged opposite to each other in the diameter direction of the roll-like object, from one end side to the other end side in an axial direction of the roll-like object by using a moving device.
Abstract:
An electronic profile acquisition system for measuring variations in the diameter of a cylindrical body, such as a roll used in the production of metal and paper sheet products. The system comprises a container mounted on wheels, and to which at least two arm assemblies are pivotally mounted so that the container is beneath the arm assemblies. Each of the arm assemblies comprises arms to which probes are mounted. The container encloses a power supply and data acquisition means for receiving output signals from the probes and storing the output signals as data. Finally, the system includes a computer that is separate from and outside the container for processing the data stored by the data acquisition means and representing the data on a screen.
Abstract:
An online roll profile measuring system for measuring a roll profile during rolling without the effect of an error caused by the change in rolling condition. The system includes a roll grinder unit and a grinding wheel traversing device. The roll grinder unit has a rotary grinding wheel positioned opposite to a work roll for grinding the work roll, a grinding wheel driving device for rotating the rotary grinding wheel, and a grinding wheel feeding device for pressing the rotary grinding wheel to the work roll. The grinding wheel traversing device moves the roll grinder unit in the axial direction of the work roll relative to a guide rail frame fixed on a housing holding the work roll. A roll profile is calculated, simultaneously with grinding of the work roll using the rotary grinding wheel, on the basis of movement amounts of the grinding wheel feeding device and the grinding wheel traversing device. In this system, the amount of displacement of the housing due to the change in rolling condition during measurement of the roll profile is measured by a roll position measuring device, and the roll profile measured during rolling is corrected on the basis of the amount of the displacement of the housing by an information processor.
Abstract:
In an apparatus for measuring the eccentricity of an eccentric bearing face having an axis of rotation, a rotary motion and a perimeter, the apparatus comprises a length measurement gauge, mounting means for mounting the length measurement gauge, means for guiding the movement of the length measurement gauge, in which the guiding means comprises a follower and two bearing tips, and means for applying the bearing tips to the eccentric bearing face. The mounting means for mounting the length measurement gauge functions to (a) maintain the length measurement gauge in the radical direction during rotary motion, and (b) enable the length measurement gauge to move perpendicularly to the axis of rotation. The guiding means functions to guide the movement of the length measurement gauge in the direction of the rotary motion of the eccentric bearing face. The guiding means comprises a follower, which is able to move radially with respect to the bearing face, and two bearing tips at a distance to one another along the perimeter of the eccentric bearing face. The follower is coupled to the length measurement gauge in the direction of its movement perpendicular to the axis of rotation.
Abstract:
Apparatus for checking linear geometric dimensions of the raceway of a ball bearing ring. A base supports a rotatable plate, which makes a ring rotate about its geometrical axis, and a mobile arm which applies to gauging heads a reciprocating motion along the transversal direction of the raceway. The gauging heads have relevant feelers which, due to the motion of the gauging heads and the rotation of the ring, contact the raceway surface along lines having an oscillating form. The gauging heads provide signals responsive to the radial dimensions of the ring in correspondence with the raceway. The signals provided by the gauging heads are processed by electronic circuits for obtaining signals responsive to said geometric dimensions, for example signals indicating the raceway minimum diameter.
Abstract:
A go/no go pipe deflection gauge to be pulled through a pipe to determine whether the pipe wall has been deflected from a substantially circular cross-section. The gauge includes a spindle having an axis of length and a pair of ends. A cable can be connected to both of said ends so that the cable can pull the gauge through a pipe, and pull it back out if it becomes stuck. A plurality of vanes extends radially from the spindle. The vanes are angularly spaced from one another and extend parallel to the spindle axis. Each of the vanes has an outer boundary which includes a central substantially straight segment parallel to the axis, and a pair of end segments extending from the respective ends of the central segment toward the axis.
