    摘要: A system and a method of automatically and periodically checking the integrity of a mechanical level sensor system for a storage tank are provided. These mechanical sensors employ a magnetic mechanism to lift the displacers or floats to the full travel of the level sensor in order to simulate a level alarm condition. A timer and activation module periodically energizes the magnetic lift mechanism. An array of indicators and logic provides an indication to the operator of normal operation, a satisfactory test, an unsatisfactory test, and a genuine alarm condition.

    摘要: A liquid level gauge calibration means which utilizes slip clutch action between the gauge pointer shaft and the float rod. In setting the gauge range, either of said elements may be held stationary at a given point while the other element is moved to coordinate with the given point. Upon release of the element being held, the slip clutch is effective to maintain the established relationship between the two elements. A tool is used to move the slip clutch as needed for desired relative setting of the two elements.

    摘要: A fluid level indicator wherein a float in a float chamber is responsive to the level of fluid in a vessel with which it communicates. The float carries a magnet which actuates a reed switch when the level of fluid in the float chamber reaches a predetermined level. A monitor connected to the reed switch indicates when the switch is actuated. A plunger disposed in the indicator when depressed moves the float, i.e., magnet, to actuate the reed switch regardless of the level of fluid in the float chamber whereby the monitoring system may be validated.

    摘要: The invention is concerned with a float operated signalling device of the kind in which a magnet follows the movement of a float in a liquid container and operates signal controls through a non magnetic wall. An open topped pan having a drain opening is attached to the magnet/float assembly and an auxiliary liquid supply is provided for depositing liquid into the pan at a rate greater than that at which it can drain out of the pan. When the pan contains liquid the float is dunked below the liquid in the container so that the magnet operates the signal controls for test purposes.

    摘要: To determine a failure of a float switch for detecting whether or not the oil level is less than or equal to a predetermined oil level. A predetermined oil level OLth is set between a normal oil level and a minimum oil level in view of the fact that when the oil level in an oil pan is normal, the oil level is decreased from the normal oil level to the minimum oil level during a predetermined time period just after starting an engine. When a float switch is not changed from an OFF position to an ON position during the predetermined time period after starting the engine, it is determined that the float switch suffers a failure or the oil level is excessive.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for measuring a liquid level by a float carrying one or more magnets and movably positioned adjacent spaced analog output voltage Hall-effect sensors. The apparatus is calibrated by moving the float relative to the sensors and measuring the voltage outputs of the sensors relative to the position of the float, and storing the measured values. After calibrating, the voltage outputs of any sensors activated by the presence of the float are measured and compared to the stored values to determine the liquid level. Preferably, the voltage output of at least two sensors are measured while the float is at one position for greater accuracy.
